Dr. Erika J Mitchell, MD

in 2013 I hit some wet leaves and fell while riding my T-12 TRIKKE. (look it up) Dr. Mitchell used 13 Titanium screws and her incredible skill to get my left hip back to normal. I am 100% since then with zero discomfort of any kind. And i am still riding in the Neighborhood about 50 miles a month. Now on my new T-10 TRIKKE, a much smoother ride with great breaks. I am SOOO grateful she was the one. In fact since then i rented the Indianapolis 500 speedway for an hour and 63 TRIKKERS showed up from 13 States to ride around the track. I am her biggest fan. Dr Mitchell was my husbands trauma surgeon after he was in an oil well explosion. He was in the Trauma unit on a ventilator and she explained every detail of what the next few weeks would bring. She explained what surgeries she would need to perform while also assuring me she had this. We saw her over 25 times in 1-1/2 years for surgeries and follow ups, she was always professional and compassionate. We think she’s the best Orthopedic Trauma surgeon ever.

It's been 5 years since I was declared a level one trauma. Only 4 hospitals in the state could take me. I was lucky that one of those had Dr. Mitchell to put me back together again. I've had x-rays since and every Dr. that's looked at them marvel at how great everything looks. I wouldn't recommend breaking yourself on purpose, but if you are broke you couldn't have a better surgeon.

With 11 Titanium screws in my left hip , putting the 3 pieces back into one bone I am 100% and I ride my TRIKKE T-12 100 miles each month and still run my own business at 76 , the surgery was at age 73. DR. Mitchell is a miracle walking around in a white coat. I am so grateful .

I saw Dr. Mitchell for the first time in 2007 at Vanderbilt ER. Dr. Mitchell and staff were so very nice and helpful. I had several surgeries with Dr. Mitchell and every time I saw her for follow ups she treated me as an old friend and asked about not only my health but my family. I had a son in Iraq at the time and she would ask about him by name every time...Love this woman, wish she would come back to Vandy!
