Dr. Erin C Grantham, MD

Dr. Grantham first performed hernia surgery on my oldest son in 2019, when he was just 7 weeks old. It was an emergency situation and she met with us immediately then performing the surgery the following day. She was so patient, prompt, and caring when working with our family and her staff was just as great as she was. Fast forward 2 years and we just met with her again regarding a hernia in my new baby boy (8 weeks old) and she was just as great as before. My pediatrician recommended we have a consult with her and she made immediate accommodations to get him in to see her while she was on call during the weekend. She even called us herself to schedule the appointment since she had no office openings but still wanted to help. She took the time to examine him, answer all of my questions, and schedule a follow up appointment to monitor the hernia in case he needs surgery in the future. She has always been professional, caring and great with our boys when we’ve seen her, and I would… absolutely recommend her.

Only reason I didn't give it 5 was because we as stuck having telehealth meetings. Nothing either of us can control right now. I don't know what the only people were talking about. She made my son feel comfortable enough to ask questions and that's not an easy task.

I honestly don’t know if she doesn’t know what is wrong with my daughter, doesn’t have the time to figure it out, or is just too busy to care. She’s been a patient for several years, but has only needed yearly visits for check ins. I have felt blown off as a parent and feel like she blames the urological issues my daughter is having on other medical issues she has because it’s easier than figuring out what is causing the problem. Meanwhile, my child gets sicker and is missing more and more school. It’s frustrating when you just need help for your child and expect that from a specialist and don’t get it.

This physician, Dr. Grantham, seems to invest no energy in getting to know patients or in keeping up on her own personal hygeine (wet/grimy hair and discolored teeth). This does not bode well for Billings Clinic. When a parent goes through the trouble of scheduling with a pediatric specialist, we expect to meet the best, someone who gains our child's trust, someone who genuinely expresses interest in getting to know us as a family. She asked no questions. She had canned repsonses prepared that she obviously tells every parent who walks in. She had the nerve to compliment my child on having an "inny" belly button, seemingly shocked that it was healed, and my child is going to be seven. This was quite odd. She had my child bend over, ostensibly to check for a misalignment that might interfere with her micturition urge, but my daughter had three layers of clothes on. She does have an improper hip rotation and laterally misaligned tailbone, diagnosed by another physician, but Dr.… Grantham "detected" nothing. She should just refuse to see anyone under 12, because she believes bedweting is perfectly natural at least until that age, if not beyond. She was not willing to discuss the connection between sleep disorders and bedwetting. She seemed to ignore any concern I had and was ready to blame me for my child's poor sleep. The most concerning part was her visit notes, which she obviously dictated and did not bother to edit. Her lack of attention to detail there speaks volumes about her style, or her god-complex. The sleep center employees struggled to make sense of her notes and apologized to me for the bad impression she made. I was not the first dissatisfied parent who had expressed less than enthusiasm. This is sad when employees feel as though they need to apologize for a physician's attitude. This physician didn't bother to get to know us or understand why we were there. I am not so shallow as to think that bedwetting is a major issue in a child's life, but I was referred to her by someone I trust, and I did hope to discuss with her how certain conditions or comorbidities factor into all of this. I hope Billings Clinic offers physicians CEs in bedside manner, effective and curtious communication, and coming across as clean and professional.
