Dr. Erinc Akture, MD

Dr. Akture is the most skilled and amazing neurosurgeon I've ever dealt with. Our entire family is forever indebted to him for saving my 40 year old brother's life after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor! Dr. Akture performed emergency surgery with care and precision. His bedside manner, ability to explain the process to the family, patience with all of our questions, and knowledge of the human brain are all unmatched. We thank God for allowing Dr. Akture to be the one to navigate my brother and our family through this very scary and life threatening process. We recommend him to everyone and hold him in the highest regard.

Not sure where the disconnect is, but Dr. Akture seemed knowledgeable and great. He said he would do my husband's surgery. He said even if insurance doesn't cover it, he would readmit my husband and do it that way. What I will say is that if you speak on the phone or in person with receptionist Danielle, simply ask for someone else. She gave us the wrong appointment time for the first appointment (not even verifying my husband's info, btw) & when we showed up at the time she told us to be there, said the doctor refused to see us. We spoke with a male manager and set up an appointment for two weeks later. The day of the appointment, they cancel as we were leaving and refused to call back. We had to call three times over a span of a week to get an appointment. Then, we get to the appointment weeks later, at the time she stated, and then said the doctor isn't there and is refusing to see him because we didn't show up 30 minutes early. No one in any of the phone calls instructed us to do… that. There was a lady in line before us apparently dealing with the same issue. Danielle said she looked up at the clock when we came in, but she wasn't even in the desk area and took 15 minutes to deal with the lady in front of us. My hunch is that this is an insurance thing, but if that's the case, why not say that to begin with? We could've had this all taken care of elsewhere for over a month now. Everyone says Advent has better service than Halifax but after this experience, I'm telling everyone to steer clear. They're screwing with people's actual lives.
