Dr. Ernest Anthony Pillado, MD

Dr. Pillado was the doctor for my mom, dad and myself for over 25 years. He is outstanding. Very knowledgeable and caring, and takes the time to know and treat each of us over many years.

I guess I need to ask for their permission to break a bone and I need to do it whenever it's convenient for the Doctor, during business hours. Pillado wouldn't give me a referral to the ortho if I didn't come in to urgent care. Even though I was already seen at the ER by another physician. So I went to urgent care. I asked the treating physician to request the MRI to expedite it, and he also placed the Ortho referral. Both referrals go through. This morning I call to get an ortho appointment. NO. I can't schedule ORTHO because I need an MRI. I call the MRI dept. No, I need an Ortho referral to get an MRI authorized. Ortho referral can't be done. MRI scheduler says even if they get it approval they are scheduling appointments two weeks away. So I finally get the supervisor from Ortho to speak to the supervisor at MRI. They schedule the MRI for tomorrow. And now my Primary Physician wants to stop the whole thing because he hasn't seen me. He wants me to wait until my… pre-scheduled annual physical, two weeks away. I guess I'm supposed to get injured around his schedule so he can collect my $20 copay 4 times before he puts out a referral.

I have been to this doctor around 5 times. The only time he helped me was when I needed a prescription. My other visits were due to issues with pain. I had issues with the painful area in the past and was pretty sure what was wrong with me. I tried to explain to him my previous history and issues, but he rudely interrupted me as if it wasn't important. He sent me in to get x-rays and an MRI. I received an e-mail from him a few days after saying that the results came back normal. I wasn't convinced, so I obtained a copy of the images/report. Sure enough, the report showed that I had the same injury that occurred in the past. I am now in the process of recovering from surgery. I have had many email exchanges with this doctor and this has proven to be very difficult as he has the reading comprehension skills of my 6 month old niece. I will not be returning to his office. It is very irresponsible of him to provide me with misinformation. If I hadn't trusted my gut, I could be in a worse… situation than I'm in now.

I would recommend Dr. Pillado and the staff at Kaiser to anyone asking for a new primary physician! Getting an appointment and setting him up as my new primary took less than 15 minutes on the phone. At my appointment, the front desk ladies were so nice and very helpful! I showed up about 15 minutes early to fill out any paper work and they took me back almost immediately. The nurse was very friendly and listened to everything I had concerns about. I waited for Dr. Pillado for about ten minutes and the overall exam time took about 20 as he is very thorough and will answer any and every question you have (and with enthusiasm!). You can tell he loves his job and takes it seriously (great bedside manner!). I was in an out, in no time and didn't feel rushed or ignored.

I have been going to Ernie on and off for many years. I trust him and feel comfortable with him. He speaks to the patient instead of at the patient. Even though he is very busy, he always makes time to see that everything is good. In addition to the normal calls, he uses email through their website to communciate which makes my life easier.
