After arriving at Richland ER (now Prisma) after a CT scan from Baptist Hospital (now Prisma) with a possible aneurysm. My family and I were told that the Surgeon on call Dr Mangubat didn’t think there was an aneurysm and wanted a better image with MRI. I told them prior to being given a Valium and going into the MRI machine that if there was No aneurysm or No life threatening emergency that I did Not want the angiogram. I woke up the next day. I could not swallow and was choking on my own saliva, I couldn’t feel anything on the left side of my body, I was frightened and didn’t know where I was or what day it was. We were told it was because of my migraines. Something I was not suffering from. I went home a week later. Still not aware of what happened. Finally after 2 1/2 weeks Mangubat had me do another MRI which he personally called me the following morning to let me know that I had a stroke some time during the procedure and he had my meds called in to the pharmacist. It’s… been almost 3 years. We’ve learned that I didn’t wake from anesthesia and it took the over 6 hours to wake me. I did have a stroke. And there was NO aneurysm! I was a healthy active 47 year old woman. Who now can’t drive, have mobility issues and suffer with constant burning pain on the left side of my body that no medicine has yet to help. My life and my children’s lives have been turned upside down! And there’s been No acknowledgment or apology or even an explanation as to why he did what he did and then acted like it never happened. He’s caused me great physical and emotional anguish and financial hardship! While he and the hospital go on with NO conviction or consequence for the Gross negligence and harm they’ve caused. While I struggle each day with the pain I am forced to endure.

My experience with Dr.Mangubat was great. After being diagnosed, he was able to quickly get me a surgery date. Throughout the whole experience he made me feel comfortable and since then I havent had any seizures.

I've seen Dr Mangubat for 2 surgeries and coming up with a 3rd. One neck and it will be 2 back. Never had much pain with either surgeries. Total recovery. He analyzes test and looks for best outcome. He is always peasant and will take some time with you. If you have neuro problems, he's you best chance.

Wonderful doctor who really takes his time with his patients and clearly shows a passion for his career. Obviously well respected by the people that work with him. As a patient who needed emergency surgery I was very relieved when I met him because he was patient with me and the concerns I had were explain clearly and simply to me. A very talented surgeon.

Dr. Mangubat, while being highly skilled and professional, is one of the most humble and approachable doctors I’ve ever experienced. He inspires confidence with his calming and patient manner and explains difficult medical procedures clearly and in layman’s terms.
