Dr. Eugene Yale Mar, MD

Due to my complicated spinal condition, I have unfortunately had the opportunity to meet with many orthopedic specialists. I found Dr. Mar on the recommendation of my primary care physician. First things first.....Dr. Mar is wheelchair bound. He is a testimate to going the distance and not letting a handicap get in your way of your job. Secondly....this doctor cares....he cares about the whole person and he logically approaches your challenges one at a time and addresses each and every one of them....with talent....and compassion. I have read the reviews of Dr. Mar that have been written. They are not to be believed. Sometimes you have to look past what appears to be a rough exterior to uncover a gentle, caring, and compassion man. This is a very hard trait to find in today's medical field. Those of you in this review who blasted Dr. Mar apparently are too self absorbed to understand the outstanding qualitites of this physician. Do me a favor....go find another doctor. For… me....Dr. Mar will, if he will have me, manage all of my orthopedic needs for as long as he is in this profession. Also....his staff medical assitant is smart, on top of everything, and does everything possible to assure the best of treatment. So...if you're complaining that Dr. Mar is late and you are waiting too long to see him.....remember he is taking the time he needs with each and every patient he sees to assure the best of treatment.....

This was the worse medical experience of my life. They created a job of consultant for this guy and ii wasted 2 and 1/2 hrs. of my day. Not only was my appt. 1 hr and 15 min late he comes in and acts like he's doing me a favor. He doesn't listen is arrogant, rude and very condescending. He's got a hugh chip on his shoulder that needs to be knocked off. I will never go into that building again.

Dr. Mar has about as much warmth as an iceberg. He was rude, condescending, and short. He walked in the room after keeping me waiting for more than an hour and was rude. He did not ask me the reason for my visit nor did he look me in the eye. He looked at his computer when he spoke at me...not to me. I can deal people who are generally cold, but rude is something else.

Initial visit was thorough with precise diagnosis. Accuracy of diagnosis pending recommended physical therapy. Folowup in four weeks will reveal more. Happily Dr. Mar placed surgery way down on the list of future actions.

I think this was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. In fact it was surreal!!! He may be basically competent however his so called bedside manner is non existent. He was impatient, irascible and rude. I felt many times that I should just get up and leave. I assisted him during his physical exam of my husband I suppose in order to avoid calling an assistant.
