Dr. Eugene David Mindel, MD

After several physicians and money hungry doctors who provided buprenorphine as a means of pocketing extra cash, showing little to no regard for their patient's needs, and exhibiting absolutely no respect for their time either; Dr. Mindel was like a breath of fresh air. Gee took time to understand my individual circumstances, goals of treatment, took notes, and offered sage and sometimes stern, albeit caring advice. I understand that working with patients with opioid use disorder isn't easy, and requires one to be stern in their approach at times, so most of the reviews I've read are the products of angry addicts, using ageism and online reviews as a way to get even with someone they feel has wronged them. I have been his patient at Changes By Choice for nearly 6 years, and have seen no evidence of dementia, but rather quite the opposite, as he easily recalls details of our sessions, and even the names of my children and other family members. I became quite I'll with… another condition, and he even emailed, texted, and called to check on my progress. I have found his rates to be far more than fair in comparison to other area practitioners in addiction medicine in the area, and always receive the full session i have paid for. Don't judge this amazing doctor in haste! Thank you, Elizabeth

Need to get him help

He is indeed ignorant of addiction medicine, is a prescription enabler and most certainly dangerous to people's lives. I was a patient at the practice, Changes by Choice, with an excellent provider for 11 years who retired. I was turned over to Dr. Mindel who exhibited signs early stage dementia. He would forget appointments, charge random amounts, never discussed addiction but instead wanted to have a 15 minute session while charging me the full amount. He randomly prescribed medications, calling them into various pharmacies with incorrect dates, dosage amounts and adding medications I did not need. My complaints to Changes by Choice were ignored. I fired him after stalking me by text day after day expecting an update on my aunt's surgery (???) Two months after firing him, he charged my credit card $900. Changes by Choice first expressed compassion but after realizing I had made a complaint to the board, bank and police department, quickly changed their tune. They contacted the… pharmacy most likely to verify whatever claims Dr. Mindell had made. The pharmacist claimed she hadn't filled prescriptions early so I had gone to another pharmacy. Not true. No pharmacist would have filled prescription early. I had no hard copy so couldn't have just "gone to another pharmacy." Mindel had called in so many prescriptions & lost track. And after being overcharged & made to come in almost weekly, I was going to pick up the medications that I paid for. My therapist of 2 years knew from the beginning of Mindel's unethical behaviors and helped me get another doctor. But what about the patients who have no other options but to relapse? Changes by Choice has closed their eyes to avoid liability. Shame on them. The is a small community and my story, among the others on these review sites are making the rounds. And before they claim I wrote all these reviews, these began in 2018 & the this site clearly states duplicate VP address posts are prevented.
