Dr. Ewa Mrozek, MD

I am a medical oncologist who specializes in treating women with breast cancer. In particular, I specialize in treating patients who are 70 years and older. Senior citizens with breast cancer face unique challenges. Pre-existing health conditions could complicate cancer treatments, but each patient, regardless of age, must be evaluated and treated based on her individual preference. I launched the Senior Adult Breast Cancer Clinic specifically to treat senior adults who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. My research focuses on the design of new experimental therapeutics and neoadjuvant therapies, such as new chemotherapy, radiation or hormone therapies. Over the course of my career, I have conducted numerous clinical trials, including one designed to target breast cancer stem cell markers in women with stage two and three breast cancer. I am a member of a National Comprehensive Cancer Network panel that specializes in developing guidelines for treating cancer patients who are 70 …years and older. I am also a member of the Cancer in the Elderly committee of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, a national clinical trials network sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.
