Dr. Ezzatollah Torage Shivapour, MD

i am writing thias review because i was shocked to see the doctor did not have the highest ratings. dr. shivapour treated me for multiple sclerosis for three years while i was attending grad school in iowa. he was an attentive and concerned neurologist, extremely knowledgeable about my condition, and, i felt, committed to my overall wellness. i could not recommend him more--an example--several months after i discontinued interfereon beta treatment for MS, i had an appointment with him and told him what i had done. he immediately ordered an MRI for that same morning and had me come back to his office as soon as it was done so we could look at it together. i didn't have new disease activity evident and i didn't restart treatment, but i felt this to be an indication of what a thorough and caring physician dr. shivapour is....

Love this physician. He is kind, knowledgeble, and tells you like it is. He is not going to tell you "what you want to hear". He has spoken at MS gatherings and is well respected amongst his peers be cause they know how good he is. He has been doing this for so long, and specialists many times do not need to run expensive tests to KNOW what is wrong. You may not like it but ... I have recommended him to others with MS and they love him also. An acceptable wait time for appts at a teaching hospital of this size is kind of set by the hospital and clinical administrator. His residents are prompt in seeing you first and spend the right amount of time with you to do what they need to do. When Dr Shivapour comes in he has read what they have noted and finds out anything else ne needs from the patient. He is very good with the medical students he brings in. Everyone is courteous. Have been going to him for many years for my MS.

I was sent to him for a 3rd opinion for MS. He spent 5 minutes with me and told me I was only stressed over my divorce and I had Lupus. He did no test, don't know where he came up with Lupus. I'd already been checked for Lupus and Lyme Disease. He's rude and has no bedside manner. I finally spent a week at Mayo Clinic & they confirmed, PPMS. Lesions on my brain & spine. That's where you want to go if you have MS or need an accurate diagnoses. The staff there were over the top. Caring and spend a lot of time with you. They explained everything to me and treatment. So, Dr. Shivapour, "NO Thanks" You need to retire.

I had seen many different specialists for my odd combination of various symptoms that I have suffered, but none of them had found anything wrong with me. I went to Dr. Shivapour and diagnosed it as a form of migraine, in which he was correct, and also had me take some cognitive tests and an MMPI to help me reduce stress that he felt was the main causation of my symptoms. He has been very kind to me and actually said that he was proud on how I'm handling my life now with the assistance of low dose of a migraine-prevention drug.

Not good. I'd like to try anything for my MS. Everytime I ask, I get the same line. 'Too experimental or your MS is past that doing anything.', HUH! Nothing but a wheelchair in my future?? I take xanax for anxiety, & have told him many times it's NOT for spasms.IF I do have to be in a chair, I want a chair NOT a scooter. He will only give me a scooter. No room for 1.

I've been going to this doc for 6+ years. I have MS, & now pain. I've waited 2 weeks for a call back, & have not heard a word. I'm shopping for a new one.
