I was referred to Dr. Ashamalla. I called to schedule an appointment and was told I would be called back. After 2 weeks of waiting, I called to find out my status. I was told that my case had been rejected due to the medicines my current Dr. prescribed. I have been trying to change and get off of these medications but Dr. Ashamalla nor his staff communicated with me at all to find out anything about me. I have been in the mental health care system for 25 years and this is by far the most unprofessional doctor I have come across. Doctors are here to help us, not reject us without any notification or without speaking to a potential patient. There are many great doctors in the area, avoid Dr. Ashamalla.

I had been trying to set up an appointment for two weeks before I was finally able to get one scheduled. I was reccomended to Dr Ashmalla by my (very trans-sensitive) therapist at Power Within Counseling (who I HIGHLY reccomend) and expected similar treatment. However, these are the type of people that think calling you your choice name is enough to make them "trans-sensitive". I went to Dr Ashmalla with the intention of addressing my Anxiety, Depression, Bi-Polar, AND my gender dysphoria. Upon mentioning my first three concerns, nothing of issue was said, however when I mentioned that I wanted to get the psychiatrist sign-off I need to start on Estrogen and Testostrone-Blockers, his response was "I don't do that". I was concerned and confused by this response, as I swore it WAS a Psychiatrist that signed off on hormones. Upon questioning his statement he replied "I don't BELIEVE in that". EEK! I was uncomfortable and nervous the rest of the session, knowing I had told aspects of my… personal life and issues I've been having to someone that felt a widely recognized MEDICAL condition was "invalid" on the basis of his personal beliefs. Anyone that takes the word of a book that calls for the stoning of non-virgin wives, and approves of slavery, over studies from Harvard University for MEDICAL PURPOSES , should NOT have an MD and should NOT be allowed to practice. It's 2019 not 1200, can we PLEASE leave a work of fiction out of medical practice?

We have had to go to different psychiatrists and we were extremity happy to find Dr. Ashamalla. We found him very knowledgeable and caring as well. He took the time needed to fully understand the problems we have and his office was very helpful with follow up as well.

Dr. Ashamalla is very easy to talk to & takes his time. Asks open ended questions & takes notes. He explains everything thoroughly & makes sure you understand. Very calming so glad we found him.
