Dr. Farid Ud Din

Stay away! I called before we even saw him to see if he provided IVIG infusions for PANS patients. My son has severe neuro deficits as a result of PANS and every specialist he sees agrees he needs it. When I was told he did, we made an appt. At the first appt, he said he wanted to do an EEG and an MRI to rule out encephalitis before prescribing him the IVIG he so desperately needed. We did both, paid for everything, and scheduled a follow up. At the follow up, he told I and my mother that the EEG and MRI were normal and that he could now prescribe the IVIG. He just asked that I call our insurance to get the criteria for IVIG to make sure it was approved. I called my insurance while there in the office and he even got on the phone to talk to them to try to get it approved. I found out the next day the insurance would cover it. I spent two months trying to get my son admitted into a hospital to receive the infusion because of his needle aversion. I was told Dr. Din didn’t have hospital… privileges and that I’d need to get another neurologist for a second opinion. We went through so much and I even got a second opinion from an oncologist who agreed he would benefit from the IVIG but that he had to discuss it with Dr. Din because they don’t usually treat PANS in oncology. Come to find out, Dr. Din had privileges at Medical City the whole time and could have admitted him for the IVIG. When I called his office, he had his assistant tell me he no longer felt comfortable giving him IVIG and hung up on me. He didn’t even have the nerve to tell me himself. I went to his office with a friend to ask why he changed his mind after he told us on two different occasions that he would prescribe it. He refused to answer our questions and only said he spoke with some fellow neurologists and changed his mind. He denied ever telling us he would prescribe it, denied that he ever spoke to the insurance company, even though I have the transcripts from the insurance company to prove it. Why would he discuss whether IVIG was covered with the insurance company if he never said he’d prescribe it? I got upset because he wouldn’t answer my questions and absolutely raised my voice when he started lying to my face and said he didn’t “want to” answer my questions. However, no one ever threatened him. He called the police saying he felt “threatened”. When the police arrived they made sure he gave me my son’s records and apologized for the doctor’s behavior. They also suggested I take him to small claims court for the money I paid him. When I got home and reviewed the records, I was shocked to find he had also falsified his medical records. There were discussions that NEVER happened and recommendations he never made. He said I reported symptoms that my son has never had such as tics and things that would indicate a movement disorder which he doesn’t have. None of my son’s medical records show a history of tics of any sort. He said he spoke at length about NOT getting IVIG which was completely false. My mother who was with me at both appointments with him was aghast at the faked records. It’s difficult to imagine a doctor treating people so horribly to the extent that he would falsify medical records. The worst part is he gave us hope and then ripped it away and, meanwhile, my 11 year old son just gets worse and now I have to start all over looking for another neurologist who will treat him. I will be reporting him to the state medical board and consulting a lawyer for small claims court to recoup the money we paid him for nothing.
