Dr. Felix Lee Kaufman, MD

We had been seeing Dr. Kaufman since after my son was born more than 10 yrs ago, until he retired this year. We loved him. He was a super doctor!

He was very rough with my 9 month old boy who was just getting over an ear infection. He was not gentle at all and seemed very upset that my BABY would try to turn away when he grabbed his ear so hard. It could have also been that the doctor smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke. My son has always been very good for doctors appointments before and since visiting dr Kauffman.

I've gone to Dr. Kaufman since birth through my 20's before moving on to a new primary care physician as an adult. Although he is not one for coddling, he knows his stuff and always pulls through when it counts. When I was about 18 month old I started having seizures rather regularly. Dr. Kaufman met my parents at the hospital immediately and assured them that it would be fine. In his nonchalant bedside manner, he explained to them that I was prone to febral seizures, there was nothing to worry about, and I would out grow them when I turned 4. Sure enough, I continued to have them until I was around 4. Likewise my sister was born deaf and had multiple health issues through adulthood. Dr. Kaufman was always available and provided top knotch care through out all the ups and downs. I could leave book-lengths of examples. He always took an interest in how we were doing in school, asked about our grades, and would kind of give us a little telling to if our grades slipped. Overall,… he's top-knotch. If your looking for someone that will give you a lollipop every time you get a sniffle, he's probably not your guy. But if you're looking for a doctor that will drop what he's doing when you really need him and use his expertise to get you through it (especially if it's a rare/dire medical condition), then there's nobody else I'd trust my kids with.

Dr. Kauffman is a professional; he's not your friend and doesn't try to be. It is evident over my many years of taking my kids to him that he deeply cares about the health and well being of children. He's not your life coach, but he will give good, practical advice. I do trust my kids in his care and he devotes the time to help your child if they're really sick. If they're not sick, then you're lucky not to spend more time with them. He and his staff do their jobs well and I highly recommend them.

Dr. Kaufman was my pediatrician when I was a child and then my child's pediatrician before we moved out of state. He is probably the most knowledgeable pediatricians you can find in the Baltimore area. If your child is really sick this is who you want. The other advantage is that he is always available and never runs late. Over the years, his bedside manner has gone from atrocious to passable. He's still not one for much fanfare or coddling when giving a shot. I wouldn't say that he is the warmest pediatrician around, but he has given me some solid advice on a few occasions.

My so has been a patient of dr.K's for 12 years and he likes him. He has great repore with his patients. I like that he is straight forward and incourages parents to use their common sense. He is not going to codel anyone or kiss a boo boo but, he will always be there to advise parents on the best way to treat any situation.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'V EVER GONE TO THE DR. TO HAVE THEM YELL AT ME. THIS PRACTICE HAS BEEN A DISAPPOINTMENT AND THE VISIT THIS PAST FRIDAY WAS THE FINAL STRAW. I WILL NOT TAKE MY CHILDREN BACK. THEY HAVE BEEN GOING SINCE BIRTH. DR KAUFMAN DID NOTHING AND WAS NO HELP. HE JUST YELLED AND GAVE ME CRAZY EYES. HE NEVER EVEN LOOKED IN MY DAUGHTER'S THROAT, OR EARS. HE FELT HER STOMACH AND SAID SHE WAS FINE BUT SHOULD BE TAKING OVER THE COUNTER REFLUX MEDICATION. HE YELLED AT ME IN FRONT OF DAUGHTER SAYING THAT SHE IS PERFECTLY FINE AND THEN ACCUSED ME OF NOT HAVING PHYSICAL IN 3 YEARS WHICH IS UNTRUE. SHE IS IN FIRST GRADE AND HAD TO HAVE PHYSICAL PRIOR TO STARTING SCHOOL. I CAN'T BELIEVE I PAID MONEY FOR THIS TREATMENT. NOT TO MENTION, SHE STILL HAS PROBLEMS THAT HE REFUSED TO ADDRESS BECAUSE I'M JUST A CRAZY MOTHER WHO IS OVERREACTING. I HAD TO TAKE MY LUNCH HOUR FOR THIS?

Dr. Kaufman is not a super touchy feely doc -- he tells you how it is, his diagnosis are usually spot on (even when other docs cant figure it out). If you want someone to stroke your ego about being a good parent, dont bother. If you want straight forward answers and demeanor,he's your guy.

I know some people do not care for doctor k because he is no nonsense and sees through parents overreactions. He is what I would call an old fashioned doctor. He is analytical, not touchy feely...he is straight forward and does not hesitate to tell you your doing something wrong. I have also heard from numerous parents thy his advice and diagnosis was the correct one after seeing numerous doctors.
