Dr. Fern D Starr, MD

Dr starr is my primary care Doctor for many years. I find her very professional and knowledgeable. With medicine she is the best. I highly recommend Dr starr.

Years ago I went to Dr Star thinking I had a UTI. She examined me and then told me I needed blood work. When the labs came back she told me I had herpes! I was shocked! I then told her I had only had one sexual partner and she scoffed at me and said “really?” I was quite young at the time and was just embarrassed and complexly humiliated and upset. She then sent me off with a bag of valtrex in a clear plastic bag!! I don’t remember seeing my lab results or being given a copy. For years after thinking I had this condition I was so scared to have a relationship. knowing I would have to have the hard conversation and tell the person I loved this I avoided relationships at all costs. Finally my mother had me to go another doctor. Come to find out I never even had herpes! I was completely healthy. I was in shock and relieved. I told this new doctor my story and she was appalled and very apologetic. Please rethink going to see this doctor as I wouldn’t want this on my worst enemy.

Dr. Starr is an excellent physician, attentive, efficient and communicative. For personal reasons, I must leave her practice, and I am extremely sorry to do so. I would recommend her highly.

I am an RN and appreciate someone who can diagnose anything that is not right wih me. She is thorough and practical too. My husband and I trust her judgment.

Dr. Starr is great and spends quality time with me as a patient. She's not touch-feely, so if you're looking for someone to hold your hand, she's not the one. If you're looking for a really good doctor who spends time with you and gives accurate and actionable diagnosis/feedback, she's the one.

Dr Starr is direct, which some may interpret as weak bedside manner. But that is a superficial assessment. Dr Starr invests so much time in analyzing her patient's test results, asking the right questions, observing the patient, and weeding out extraneous information to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. I only wish more doctors are willing to make this investment in ALL their patients. I personally know that dr Starr does not take shortcuts on figuring out what is wrong and how to address the problem. I would opt for these skills combined with directness over charming bedside manner with weak diagnostic / patient follow through. Dr Starr takes her professional obligations quite seriously and puts the patients interests first and foremost

It seems like a nice practice and the staff has always been courteous though there are often long wait times. Dr. Starr has absolutely no bedside manner and does not take the time to talk about all of a patient's concerns in a visit.

This woman had saved my life with her excellent diagnostic skills as well as her excellent referrals when needed! I am amazed at the superficial negative criticisms that I have just reviewed. I have since moved to MD and regretted leaving Dr Starr and have chosen like minded professionals down here...she may be looking at a computer but her listening and brain skills are superb!!!
