Dr. Fernando Timothy Avila, MD

Dr.Avila was my doctor for a lot of years and is a Good doctor and has always taken care of my pain and control my pain thank you Doctor Avila for being the best doctor and his staff thank you pray your doing fine thank you again for being a good doctor

Dr Avila is a great Dr. Kind, knowledgeable and friendly but getting past his office staff is the problem. Rude, pushy and none of them no what is going on n the office. The main head bully answers calls on speakerphone which is a violation of HIPA allowing everyone 2 no ur business. 1 of the other bullies grabbed a paper out of my hand and crumpled it up as I tried 2 grab it back!! An actual physical altercation n front of other patients. Told everyone my bsn. I will definitely not b going back!!

Long wait times 1 and 2 hours for first three appointments.So far no relief post shingles nerve pain. No successful new treatments that have worked. Only slightly successful treatment is same as primary care physician provided. Order suggestions can be found on Web MD or from the primary physician. So far a waste or time and money. M Might look for a practice that runs their office better.

I am go to the Harlingen office, but I have had a horriable experience with the staff at his San Antonio office. The problem in that office is not Dr. Avala, but the staff expecially the office manager. She is by FAR the rudest woman I have ever met in my life. I was very angry the way I was treated by her. She is on some kind of power trip. Its unbelievable how she treats the staff there as well. I have seen her mistreat one nurse so badly that I don't understand why the woman just didn't walk out and quit on the spot. She was screaming at the poor woman who dis NOTHING wrong. She assumed she wasn't following her orders. She also clamed to me that she is in charge of the Harlingen office and it didn't matter what the staff said there. She claimed she was going to strighten them out. When I hot tired of her demeaning me and her staff I confronted her. She clamed that she is just over protective of Dr. Avala. She screams at the staff without checking her facts. This woman is a witch.… The Harlingen staff is absolutely on a whole different realm then the San Antonio office. You couldn't meet a nicer group of people. Anggie the office manger in that office is awesome. The only reason I do not give a 5 star review is the power hungry bully that runs the office.in San Antonio. People who see Dr. Avala are in a great deal of pain. Why this bully of a woman is alowed to mistreat patients and staff is something that I don't understand. Dr. Avala saved my life I am certain of.

Wait time is extremely long but that's due to the overwhelming amount of clients consolidating to one facility and he dr avila being the only doctor

I have seen Dr. Avila for nearly 10 years. I have waited up to 8 hours to see him at a visit. The average wait time is currently 3-4 hours. The staff is obnoxious and out of control. This comes from Del the supervisor. She has stated directly to me that she cannot stand patients that take medication for pain as she herself went thru Chemo and didn't need pain meds so neither do the patients there. She is a woman on a power trip which explains the state of the office. I stayed with Dr. Avila so long because I valued his opinion. However, in the last year or so he doesn't seem to have an opinion. The last visit I had with him was all of 30 seconds. The question he asked was; "Same meds?". Then walked out. This place needs a complete overhaul starting with the Administrator. It will continue to get worse as long as someone with no compassion is at the top of the chain. Very unfortunate.

The worst place ever. He misdiagnosed me and his daughter was sexually hitting on my husband in front of me.. the worst place in the whole world

It has only been a few months, I have been going to see Dr. Avila. He is a really great doctor, but the wait time for every one of my appointments lasted from 3 to 4 hours; and his staff is very rude and obnoxious.I would recommend the doctor, if you are willing to wait for lengthy periods of time or deal with the receptionist saying that "Money is all that matters".After waiting all that time getting an attitude because I just want to pick up my medications and go.Hopefully if you decide to patron Dr. Avila's services, your visit is better than most of us that have been to him.All I can say is, "Good Luck".

Dr. Avila has been treating me for over 4 years. I have had insurance problems on & off throughout those 4 years, yet Dr. Avila has always worked w/ me, always made me feel like he genuinely cared about me, not just pmts from ins. He takes his time, explains everything to me & listens to my issues as well. I would highly recommend him.
