Dr. Firoz Munshi, MD

It is strange to read the reviews of other patients who reported a bad experience with this doctor. I found him to be totally receptive, sensitive to nuance, and wise regarding the subjects to pursue and those to let lie for the time being. He revised my psych meds for the better. He caught me noncompliant with rx I really need for other serious health problems and helped me with that. He is professional, appropriate, and encouraging.

Doesn't listen, doesn't return messages.

one of the worst experiences iin my life was coming to Dr munshi for help. He was unprofessional, uncaring and actually made my medical worse with his inability to relate or listen effectively to patients in need. Very disappointed in the supposed care I recd. I would not consider that care for n any sense. I would not recommend anyone to see or trust this dr for anything related to healthcare.

Didn't care about me as a patient at all. I felt worse after seeing him.

Terrible psychiatrist. Emotionally unavailable and not willing to listen to me, which is really not appropriate when you're dealing with someone with depression. I tried to tell him about my symptoms, but he cut me off repeatedly. He would often tell me to "stay on the straight path" and "be good" even though I told him I don't do drugs or drink and that I've always been a good student. I'm honestly not even sure what he meant by that. It was not relevant or helpful. Other people in my therapy group expressed similar complaints about him. He also prescribed to me a name brand drug instead of the generic, which I was unable to pay for after I moved out of necessity to another area with a different Kaiser coverage plan. The cost difference went from $20 to over $400. When I talked to other doctors they explained to me that the difference between the generic and the name brand was negligible and that I should have been prescribed the generic because I wasn't making enough to pay for the… name brand at full price. I had to get another doctor to prescribe me a generic version, but I ran out of meds before I could resolve the issue with Southern California Kaiser. He should have told me about the difference and he should have given me the generic option. But he didn't. I'm completely unsatisfied with his performance.
