Dr. Francis Alan Chrzanowski JR., MD

I've been seeing Dr C for ongoing medical issues since 2010. At that time I had no insurance and no way to pay out of pocket and I needed surgery badly. Hospitals wouldn't help me and just sent me on my way after making sure I was "stable" and I went to a bunch of other doctors who wouldn't barely give me the time of day because I had no way to pay. But Dr. C, from the moment I first called his office with barely ant hope left to hang onto, he took my case and never brought up money or my inability to pay. He cared about...me, not money. He performed surgery that was quite extensive and I never received a bill for anything. In this day and age that sort of kindness is so rare. People think he has a brash or gruff bedside manner but he really doesn't. He's a brilliant doctor/surgeon and I'll forever be grateful. I've had many surgeries with him since that first one as my issue is chronic and not an issue that is curable. All we can do is try to manage it as best we can. I hope that… those of you who left negative comments based off of his bedside manner will give him another chance as I can promise you if you dont, you're missing out on impeccable care and help. As far as his office and staff, they are both wonderful. There's plenty of locations to pick from and his staff is awesome. They def go out of their way to do whatever they can go help and like I said before, I was accepted with open arms and that was by everyone not just the Dr. Appointments are easy to get and you won't have to wait weeks or months to get in front of him and he's very thorough and takes his time in answering all questions. In short: he's a brilliant doctor/surgeon and if you are in pain and suffering he is your man!

Dr. Chrzanowski and team performed my surgery for cancer removal. It was done by both laparoscopic and robotic means, which I believe made a tremendous difference in overall recovery. I was well-informed by the surgeon in the weeks leading up to the surgery, including possible complications (of which I had none). The doctor met with me several times, both before and after the operation, and always listened and answered my questions. He was there every day of my hospital stay to check on my status. The hospital provided a wound care nurse to help me, and also a connection to home health care for 3 weeks (covered by Medicare). It will be weeks before anyone is fully recovered after such a surgery and I am well on the way there. Dr. Chrzanowski is a caring and skilled doctor who I am so glad became my surgeon.

Dr C and his associates are amazing. Appointments are scheduled and on time. When having to send paperwork work for FML and/or short time the associate(s) are able to fax on time. Dr. C will allow you to know if surgery is necessary and if not what you as an individual may need to do. If you opt for surgery he will allow you to know what to be prepared for and after care. MLT

We had the same situations already listed. Sepsis, colostomy. Almost 3 years later still under going surgeries to correct the mistakes this dr made. The dr has never followed up and took no responsibility. Find another doctor. We have so much regret we didn’t trust our initial instinct about this dr.

My brother had a cancerous tumor removed by Dr. Chrzanowski on Jan 31, 2018. The Dr told him he would be in the hospital for 1 week and 2 weeks after that he would be driving. Well here it is May 10th and my brother’s condition is worse now then it was before going into surgery. He has a colostomy and a catheter for urination (Why) (which he may have for the rest of his life and on ongoing abscess (Why) which using the Dr’s terminology is chronic. (Why) My brother has been in rehab and now in assisted living. He is unable to take care of himself. The colostomy bag explodes all the time. He has now been sent back to the hospital for this very bad infection (Why) and when the the Doctor is called he says his condition is chronic.(Why). Ironically The Dr. doesn’t seem to care enough about his patients to look at them when he speaks to them or family members. His response to all the questions is it has to do with the surgery. In short I would think twice about using Dr.… Chrzanowski as your surgeon. Once the surgery is performed and the outcome is either good or bad, he doesn’t have any compassion for his patients. Unfortunately I feel that compassion is a key to a successful recovery. He doesn’t even make a visit to the hospital when his patient has been re-admitted for yet another time for this infection. His dedication to his patients is none existent. If there was an error in his surgerical performance, which I certainly think there was, he does not show any interest at all.

My domestic partner of 19 years was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. We recently moved to Jacksonville last Fall. I had been a social worker in Cleveland for the past 15 years. I have worked with two of the premier hospitals in the USA: Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals of Cleveland. I did not have the advantage of being able to network with professional colleagues or having had any clinical experience in the Jacksonville area. We were impressed with Dr. Chrzanowski and his staff. Dr. Chrzanowski was very straight-forward and he clearly defined the colon resection procedure. He facilitated our request to schedule the surgery ASAP ( one week from our office visit) . I was very impressed with Dr. Chrzanowski and Baptist Medical Center (downtown). Overall, the care that Diana received there was excellent. One thing that I have learned as a social worker, nurses will tell you exactly how they feel (if they are disgruntled). One nurse told me that Dr.… Chrzanowski was "A world-class surgeon." Two other nurses told me that he was excellent and very good at follow-up visits with patients (post surgery). I can see how some folks might construe Dr. Chrzanowski's bedside manner as being somewhat gruff. However, my assessment is the he really does care about his patients and he has an excellent knowledge base and skill set. As a fellow Yankee, I appreciate his honesty and lack of pretentiousness. Diana's surgery and recovery went very well. I was amazed that she was discharged after only four days. I am very pleased with her progress! Up North, we have a saying in the social work field: This Doc rocks!

A wonderful doctor, explains everything and makes a patient feel at ease and comfortable. He is engaging and enjoyable to talk to and is attentive to ensuring that the patient is totally clear on procedures before performed and considerate and supportive in all interactions pre and post surgery.

Dr. C is currently treating me and I trust him COMPLETELY! He spent a very long time discussing my diagnosis and prognosis and uses diagrams and pictures to help us understand what is going to be done. He's a little brash, but I think its just his Northern coming out and a lot of Southerners aren't sure how to take it! He is very professional and forthcoming and I appreciate that he doesn't beat around the bush. He has a way of helping me see humor in my current situation and I've had him thourougly researched by my family in the medical profession. Everyone, from nurses to oncologists, said he is an EXPERT at what he does and today, the technician who performed my CT Scan said out of all her doctors, he is THE ONLY one she knows by face because he is the ONLY ONE who regularly checks on his patients and their results in person. He cares about his patients that much. I trust him enough that I'm moving forward with surgery with him next week. I trust and believe everything is going to… go well with him! His office is very curteous and accomidating and they had my surgery scheduled within 2 weeks of test results.

Beware! This doctor is good at his work but if a complication from his procedure arises, he will blame anyone but himself. I contracted a horrendous infection from a colonoscopy performed by this doctor. I called his office the morning following the procedure because I was so sick I could not even get out of bed without help. I had a septic infection and needed an antibiotic. He told his receptionist I had a problem with anesthesia. He would not see me, he would not even talk with me on the phone. I was so enervated from the infection I could do nothing but crawl to my my bath for a couple Tylenol and try to go back to sleep. I awoke early the next morning in a puddle of sweat! Thank God my immune system is not compromised or I think I would have died. In my opinion, you should avoid this provider.

In my opinion Dr. C had very poor bedside manners. After he did my surgery he basically left me in the dark as to what exactly he had done. Didn't even explain to my wife what he had done. Followed up with him 1 1/2 weeks after the surgery because of excruciating abdominal pain. Turns out I had a much more serious condition that him being a specialist should have been able to see and sent me to the right doctors, instead of just sending me home in pain. Luckily now I am seeing the right doctors and will not be seeing him anymore.
