Dr. Frank Carmen Candela, MD

Recommended and performed a colon reduction. I felt rushed into having the procedure by his over- confidence. He then cancelled post-op checkup two times in a row due to "personal matters" even after I expressed concern over pain and fever. Ended up in Emergency with a diagnose of sepsis from leaking intestinal tract. He had failed to properly close up the internal intestine. I ended up having to have a ileostomy for months. Went to USC to finally get the ileostomy reversed, but still have problems 2 years later from internal organ exposures to sepsis.

Dr Candela did my pilonidal cyst surgery. The surgery itself was fine but the post treatment of the surgery was a nightmare! 1. He never provided proper wound care to my surgery area. He slapped a blob of cotton on my wound and expects my panty to hold it for the entire day! The cotton would come out of the wound minute I stepped outside! My wound was prone to infections and he kept going on like that for 8 months. Pathetic treatment to a patient! 2. He disregarded what my nurse who was visiting my home had to say about my condition of the wound. Completely brushing her off and going on with his own treatment which never helped to heal my wound. 3. He did silver nitrate treatment and did not inform me that it would so painful and I was coming on my own to the office hoping it is quick visit. In fact, I had cry outside in parking lot to get over my pain so I could call the uber. It was nightmare! 4. He never prescribed any antibiotics for my treatment even after requesting it… multiple times! Even though blood and pus was coming from my wound! 5. In the end of 8 months of him looking at my wound he informed me that I would need another surgery. At that point, I realize this is his money making scheme to get me keep through that cycle. 6. Thanks to Dr. Candela, I was on bed for 1 yr recovering from my pilonidal cyst surgery and never healed! 7. When I visited another doctor, they told me there was 3 different kind of bacteria in my wound on the very first day! 8. Please do not go to him! These positive reviews sound like scam to me! Dr Canadela needs to be board examined how he is mistreating and giving poor service to the patient! Please be beware!!!

Dr, Candela did an inguinal surgery on me 24 years ago and that is still holding well! Unfortunately I recently experienced a small umbilical hernia and I called Dr. Candela to fix it. This was an outpatient procedure performed at the West Valley Surgery Center adjacent to his office. I can't say enough how happy I am with the results. I am still healing, but surgery plus one week and all is smooth sailing so far, again it seems. I would highly recommend Dr. Candela.

Had gallbladder issues and was referred to him, was knowledgeable and sent me for tests before he would even do the surgery. Very pleasant demeanor and now as I recover I am glad he is there if I need him

This man is a genius!! He fixed my ventral hernia and the job was perfect!! He even gave me a belly button that was lost from a previous bowel surgery (done elsewhere and emergent)!!! The staff is awesome and kind and office super clean,warm and inviting! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR and His STAFF! I am a nurse w/ 30 years Plastic surgery experience and this man is AMAZING! This man is so compassionate. He not only saved my life at 3am but he is OLD SCHOOL the way doctors used to be. He treats his patients with respect. HE LISTENS AND FIGHTS FOR HIS PATIENTS. i love him. I wish i could have him as my regular doctor for all time

I am so grateful to Dr Candela . He saved my life on Sept 5 2018. did emergency surgery at 3am. Followed up everyday that i was in the hospital with a smile on his face. When the hospitalist tried to send me home in 3 days he fought for the 9 days i stayed. He is a gift from God

Dr. Frank Candela was my daughter's surgeon, and we were so incredibly happy with his professionalism, and his utmost personal touch. He made my daughter so comfortable at her tender age. We thank him so much for taking excellent care of her.
