Dr. Frank Joseph Genova, MD

I had a good experience and felt that he truly listened. We were able to come up with a plan of action within 1 appointment, which I found extremely helpful. I would recommend Dr. Genova.

after my previous psychiatrist left kaiser, i was referred to dr. genova. i had my first appointment with him which was scheduled by my therapist. he asked me why i was there to see him and i said “i’m not sure, this appointment was scheduled for me”. and then it was dead silence. he stared at his computer and just said nothing. i don’t know if he was waiting for me to say something, but as a doctor, you need to be able to make conversation and be attentive, especially in the mental health field. he has no empathy or compassion at all. i ended the call abruptly because i just felt so weirded out by him. he then decided to call police to my house to do a welfare check because he thought i would hurt myself. based off of an appointment that lasted three minutes at the most. he really needs to stop working in this field and just do data collecting since all he does is stare at his computer anyway.

The worst Psychiatrist I have ever had. I have no idea how this man is still practicing. He blatantly lied to me, and insisted on changing my entire medication (which had been working for years) after a 5 minute video chat. I was referred to him by default after my previous Dr left the practice. The video visit was just to introduce myself and let him know my current medication and course of treatment are working and do not need change. Awful, bordering on malpractice. Avoid.

This "doctor" needs to be banned from practice simply on the grounds of providing incorrect information on prescription policy. The amount of unprofessionalism in decorum likewise is appalling. It is actually incredible that such an individual would ever have employment in any medical field above an internship level of expertise.

I was experimented on by Dr. Genova for several years. When I attempted to get off the psychotropics, he was of zero help. Very unempathetic guy. Best thing I ever did was get myself off the drugs her prescribed and I've never felt better!

I haven't been a patient of Dr. Genova for approx. a year now, but from the age 18 until 26, he gave me nothing but great assistance. We've had our ups & downs, but overall his regimen was easier to cope with than the previous psychiatrist I had. Dr. Genova was able to help me ween myself off of more than 10-15 medications. He gave me great advice, and sometimes when I needed tough love he provided that in an empathetic doctor-patient relationship way. He was one of my best doctors & If I could afford him I would of continued my treatment under him. I rather remain anonymous but if it wasn't for Dr. Genova && the two (2) receptionist ladies that have watched me grow up since I was 17 yrs. old, I don't think I would of been as balanced and grounded as I am today. They all played a vital role. Instead of just medicating me && continuing to make me a zombie, they help alleviate the problems && the meds, which actually made me worst, except for my anxiety meds which helped me remain cool,… calm && collected. I miss Dr. Genova && my DBH KP staff that really cared and gave the empathy I needed. Thank you Doc! P.S. I'm doing great & I have my CPC license now working towards opening my company this Fall 2018. Stay blessed! Respectfully, RLD P.S. Saw Dr. Genova and probably the main reason I left Kaiser. I was having some serious issues at the time and he was rude and acted uninterested and just stared at his computer. I still remember the look of disdain he gave me. Terrible doctor!

This doctor has questionable ethics. He told me Zyprexa would 'not cause you to gain weight.' That medication has one of the worst side effect profiles for weight gain. Furthermore, he spent more time in front the computer than making eye contact with me, his patient. I switched out of Kaiser b/c there were no other providers accepting patients in his office. Doctors like him are the reason Kaiser sucks.

He couldn't have cared less about me or my issues to the point of not even faking it. All he did was input data into his computer and barely interacted outside of that. A brick would've have more receptive (or compassionate for that matter). Switched docs it was that bad.
