Dr. Frank Kwok-Kit Leung, MD

My mother picked this doctor because her native language is Chinese. She believes that it would be easier for her to talk to a Chinese doctor. I accompanied her to visit Dr Leung for the first time. During the short visit, the doctor had to mention several times that my mom has the state subsidized health insurance meant for "poor people." The first principle of medical ethics states that "A physician shall be dedicated to providing competent medical care, with compassion and respect for human dignity and rights." This doctor is so disgusted by poor people that he goes pretty far to make sure that his receptionist diligently checks the most current status of a "poor" patient's insurance every time before he sees the patient. He needs to be absolutely sure that he is getting paid from seeing "poor" patients. When I took my mom to visit the doctor again, the rude receptionist said that the doctor would not see my mom because she could not verify the most current insurance status on… my mother on a Saturday morning. The rude reception also emphasized that it was not her fault that we had to drive 20 miles for nothing. After we came back from the doctor's office, I dug out an automated number I gave the receptionist to call during our first vist. Without any surprise, the number quickly verified my mother's legitimate insurance status. I was angry and called the doctor' office again. The rude lady answered the phone and said "Well, you can come back now. " Right, after driving 40 miles both ways, we did not feel like going back again, not now, not ever. I told my mom that she deserves a better doctor, who can treat his or her patients like normal humans.

The receptionist is very rude to patients. This receptionist refused to take a message to pass along to the doctor. It's impossible to reach the doctor during regular hours and after. The receptionist will only allow you to ask a question of the doctor if you make an appointment to see him. They are only concerned about the money and not the well being of the patient.

He does not seem to know anything about hypothyroidism.
