Dr. Franklin Allen Crystal, MD

I have been a patient for over 7 years and I always have had to wait an hour or more to be seen. Dr. Crystal is wonderful but its absolutely ridiculous that patients have to wait this long to be seen.

I really like Dr. Crystal. However, I don't feel confident with the staff. After going there 2-3 times I began to worry about their competency. During my eye exam, before the Dr. comes in, I have had a technician run out of the room to ask someone else how to do something. Dr. Crystal was top notch, but the staff are usually the ones who do your glasses prescription, and I need to be able to trust that it will be correct.

The staff was professional & welcoming. Dr.Crystal answered all of my questions and helped me to understand the issue with my eyes. He spent a good amount of time with me and he never made me feel as if he was rushing through the appointment.

I was not favorably impressed. While non of his staff was rude, none of them had the common courtesy of introducing themselves, nor did they go out of their way to explain anything. Another doctor was helping Dr. Crystal. The other doctor came into the room before Dr. Crystal, without introducing himself nor explaining the role he played. As he was examining my eyes, I realized he was not Dr. Crystal. i had to ask this man, doctor, to tell me who he was ! Then he seemed annoyed to have to answer a question that I had.When Dr. Crystal came into the room with an assistant, neither of them said hello nor introduced themselves. I had to ask Dr. Crystal if he were Dr. Crystal.Dr. Crystal spoke in a voice that was difficult to understand.While I was waiting to be seen, one of his office staff women, was outside in the front smoking a cigar. She couldn't finish it. So she put the unfinished cigar into a crack in the cinderblock part of the entrance. Then the office staff was all a-stir when… a homeless teenager walked up and took the unfinished cigar !Needless to say, I will never return for an eye exam to this doctor or anyone in his office ! And this was a referral from my primary care physician. My physician is going to get an ear full from me regarding this referral.
