Dr. Franz John Kopp, MD

Dr. Kopp is a super specialist at his profession and a wonderful and kind doctor at that. His team is top notch and exceptional at helping me through the pre and post operation of an ankle fusion. I feel confident that the outcome will be better than expected.

I have great experiences with Dr. Kopp and all of his staff during surgery procedure, office visits, including X-ray techs. So professional, caring and kind. Still recovering, best news, I can actually stand vertical, weight baring as tolerated just 6 weeks and 2 days after surgery. Thank you Dr. Kopp.

Excellent at medicine, listens well, wonderful bedside manner. Only problem is a tendency to be late for appointments; this may be an issue with the schedulers, not with him personally.

I just saw Dr Kopp for my initial visit. He was very thorough and knowledgeable about feet/toes. Dr Kopp explained procedures that I could undergo to relive foot pain and I didn't feel rushed. He was referred to me by a surgeon friend and I really felt this appt was productive.

Dr. Kopp performed ankle fusion on me in September 2023. I developed osteomyelitis months later due to the hardware and had to return to surgery to remove the ankle hardware. Through both surgeries and recoveries, Dr. Kopp has provided excellent care. His office is busy, but I never feel rushed by him or his staff. Additionally, he is an excellent listener and genuinely cares for his patients. Dr. Kopp was highly recommended to me by the former Charger and USD Torrero team Orthopedic doctor. I am glad I chose Kopp for my fusion.

My mother's knee has been causing ever increasingly more severe pain. Dr Kopp was very thorough and explained the tradeoffs and considerations before making a decision on surgery or knee replacement.

Great knee replacement experience hardly a scar.

After much research and the fact that my ankle is basically already fused at 90 degrees/neutral, I was desperate to find an alternative to an ankle arthrodesis to alleviate the pain from my ankle arthritis. The lack of dorsiflexion caused hyper extension in my knee and I could feel it begin to deteriorate. A work colleague who went through something similar swore by Dr. Kopp and said he accepted Federal OWCP. It took three months to get in and see him due to conflicting information his staff told me about what was needed from OWCP. After months of back and forth with OWCP, and transferring care from a physician who knew my history and cared about my well-being, but lacked the medical expertise to do advanced procedures, I was finally transferred care to Dr. Kopp. However, after all of that back and forth, Dr. Kopp said he would only offer a second opinion or a consult and not take me as a patient. I went in for my consult with high hopes yet he only offered me an ankle fusion despite… all of my concerns and insisted that it was the best option. To be fair, he did explain his medical opinion as to why and did offer names of other physicians that did alternative procedures and his staff was pleasant. I cannot rate on how well he performs surgery, but this visit has put me right back where in started.

Dr. Kopp ís very thorough and explains my current condition and possible treatments. He has an excellent, helpful demeanor. I would recommend him for anyone seeking treatment.

The stuff is very friendly but he is just amazing. He explains everything and is just wonderful how well he treats you.
