Dr. Frazier Fortenberry, MD

Dr. Fortenberry performed holmium laser surgery (HoLEP) on me less than three weeks ago for an enlarged prostate. I was referred to him by my urologist because of Dr. Fortenberry’s long and great track record with HoLEP. He is held in high regard by his colleagues. Very few urologists in the entire country can perform this procedure. Dr. Fortenberry has done nearly 400. At the initial consultation, Dr. Fortenberry could not have been more generous with his time or complete with his explanation of the procedure. I left with complete confidence in him. The surgery took about an hour and a half. There are no surgical incisions. I had absolutely no pain from the procedure. Twenty four hours after surgery my catheter was pulled. Within an hour I was urinating unlike I had in decades. I was no longer a hostage to urinary retention. In the days since my HoLEP, things have only gotten better. My sleep has improved dramatically—I don’t have to get up as often during the night. Truthfully,… Dr. Fortenberry changed my life in a way that I never imagined possible. I’m thankful for his expertise and highly recommend him!

First visit seemed normal. Second visit; couldn't remember why I was there even though he had my chart in his hand. Was rushed and was hectic. Dr. said results would be back in two days: called day 3, 4, and 10 didn't get results until second call on day 10 just before they closed. The receptionist was rude. I later found out biopsy results were completed at lab day after biopsy. No excuse not to follow up with lab. Dr Fortenberry tried to blame lab for not faxing results. He is not following up with patients like any other doctor I have been too.

Dr. Fortenberry is thorough and takes time to explain issues. I highly, highly recommend him.

Good Doctor

Dr. Fortenberry is one of the most pleasant physicians I have ever consulted. He respects your desire to be involved in healthcare decisions and is not paternalistic towards his patients. He appropriately reviews your problems and not only addresses the treatment but is likewise committed to understanding the factors contributing to your problems. I highly recommend Dr. Fortenberry to anyone in need of an urologist.

I met this man on a Thursday, and because he saw the urgency of my situation, I was in surgery the following Tuesday. Dr. Fortenberry is straight forward and no nonsense. I felt completely confident in him. He personally followed up with me every day after surgery.

Be aware. Limited OR time each month (Dr. Fortenberry twice per month, most urologists operate two days per week) raises concern of experience/skill fluency. Rude to patients. Not a good example of a physician.
