I can add very little to the review my poor sister just left regarding the care of our 87 year old mother. After having checked with several other doctors, I feel confident that his 50% decrease in mom's morphine was extreme and threw her into withdrawal. He also chose to decrease her antidepressant medication by 50% at the same time, even though she has a history of depression. That was bad enough, but not to be willing to respond or offer help to her. Believe me when I say this is something you do not ever want to witness. Dr. Fender will never be allowed to treat our mother or any other family member again.

Dr Fender is one of the staff physicians for Life Care. My mother resides there, is 87 and in chronic pain. He decided to reduce her morphine dose. Instead of doing the recommended reduction of 10% every 2 weeks he suddenly cut it by 50%. My sister and I spent the evening watching our mother twitch, scream and claw her face as she felt like she was burning up, going crazy or both. When the staff nurse called him he was "put out" that he got a call on Sat evening. In my opinion, putting an elderly person through that sort of withdrawal was inhumane!

Doesn't communicate with P.O.A. Ordered antibiotics a week after recieving test results. Failed to review patient medical history prior to prescribing care. Lacks time management to properly address patient care.

All that you would want from a Doctor. I think he spreads himself pretty thin. Gives a lot of him time and efforts.

Dr. Fender has been a great doctor to our family . . . Four generations! We first went to Dr. Fender when we were new to Meridian and our three year old got a pearl in her ear. On a Sunday night he met and treated her! What an awesome doctor who genuinely cares for his patients ... old and young alike!
