Absolutely terrible man. I don't understand how he calls himself a doctor.

Stay away from this man. I almost left without my endoscopy done because of this disrespectful, belittling and abusing attitude. this guy is not qualified to clean toilets, it just happens that he managed to get a medical certificate. long ways from being a human being . Just ask his own staff they'll tell you. Thrive

He’s a great doctor because he understands my condition and got rid of my problem. He cares about patient and I feel comfortable communicate my symptoms with him. I have been going to him for 20 years, although my condition now is completely in remission under his cure.

I don't understand all these reviews everyone is entitled to their personality. I have never had an issue with him. He's caring about my health issues and responds within an hour when I email him. He's excellent and I will continue to see him

Smart Alec, Dr very uncaring.very pompous, likes to talk about himself.

Kaiser good. Staff at Kaiser good and friendly. 5 Stars Courteous Staff for Kaiser - Not for Dr. Schulssel. Dr. Schulssel is condescending and a smart alec to patients. I know he had done 1000's of procedures, but his bedside manner and tone is way off base how he treats and talks to his patients. I had an endoscopy procedure by him a few years ago. He started out smart alec. Abrupt and accusatory tone and sarcastic comments. I just ignored. I was put under for procedure and woke up after. A nurse, then he came in and said he forgot to do the procedure while I was under!! After being a smart alec he forgot the procedure!!!?? I had to go under again and redo procedure!!! With his cavalier tone said to me "he's human, and humans make mistakes". I was surprised that my recent visit he was there again and assigned to me. I remembered immediately when he started with the sarcasm and smart alec-ness. This guy is a loose cannon and is in the wrong business. He should get… out if is so un-happy and mean tone, and sarcastic way he handles his patients. I definitely do not recommend him.

I am an R.N. I just scheduled a follow-up colonoscopy for Aug. 2014- 6 years after my last- with a referral from my internist and oncologist. My brother died from metastatic colorectal Ca two months ago. In 2002, I had a radical hysterectomy for early stage uterine cancer. This doctor had been following me for any related GI symptoms since 1998 when I had several days of GI bleeding and discomfort which turned out to be due to taking Aleve for a shoulder injury. Subsequently, I also had two colonoscopies in the 2000s, the last one in 2008. My internist had referred me for 5 days of passing blood. After I had gone through the difficult 24 hr. bowel prep for this colonoscopy and was on the table in the colonoscopy room with an IV, EKG and B/P monitor attached ready for the sedation, this doctor walked into the room without even greeting me as the patient and proceeded to ask me why I was there and added that they didn't want to waste their time- didn't I have the procedure 5 years… ago. I couldn't believe my ears and had I not gone through the awful prep and wanted an answer to this current bleeding, I would have stopped everything, taken off the monitors. removed the IV and asked for a wheelchair to be taken out so I wouldn't WASTE HIS TIME!! I was angry and wondered why he was asking me why I was there. Had he not read my internist's referral statement? No patient should ever be going under sedation in such a stressed state. Later, after the procedure was completed and I was awakening from the sedation in recovery, he very abruptly told me that he did find another problem. He completely ignored my adult son who was sitting right beside me. I will never have this doctor do any procedure on me and therefore, I asked for a different gastroenterologist this time.

Doctor was not on time. Very rude and consenting. Talks to you like you are stupid. You have no choice but to put up with Dr. Schlussel nasty attitude because he is doing the surgery. This doctor needs to be observed by his superiors. Did I mention, the staff seems scared of him.

Rude and disrespectful to elderly patient and her family. Did post procedure consult while still on personal phone call. didn't speak to the patient but spoke to the patients son as if he assumed the patient couldn't comprehend what he was saying because she was elderly and in a wheelchair.
