Dr. Gabriel Anthony Bird

Dr. Bird fit me into his busy schedule as a new patient for 2 emergency procedures! His entire staff was kind and put my mind at ease! Dr. Bird worked quickly, but did beautiful work! If you need a dentist, and are on the fence, Dr. Bird is your guy!!

Every time I come in it is a top notch experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgable!

Apparently only his time is valuable. On 3 different occasions, I have waited well over my appointment time. This last time, I showed up early, checked in and then waited 15 min. past my appointment time. After watching them escort 2 people back that came in after me, I left. They then turned around and tried to bill me for a no show/cancellation. Good luck with that! I did show; however, my time IS valuable and I refuse to wait more than 15 minutes after my appointment slot. I will NOT pay for a no show. His policy says nothing about leaving due to poor customer service.

Dr. Bird put in two fillings. He and his assistant had a saying that they chanted together when I complained about how badly his shot hurt. They said, "If it doesn't stink and doesn't hurt, it's not good dentistry." This is not true. I used to be a dental assistant for many years. I've worked for many dentists and have never heard this saying. I've had painless shots by many dentists but Dr. Bird's shot was the worst pain I'd ever had in a shot. I've had a lot of dental work--everything from root canals to crowns--nothing has ever hurt as much as his shot. His fillings were not good, either. One cracked and part of it came out a few weeks later. The other had a varnish that he put over it and when it dried, it dried on the tooth behind it so that I couldn't floss. I finally got the floss to go through the teeth, but was not impressed. He didn't have a good chair-side manner, either. Didn't tell me what he was going to do, just did it. Once, he hit my front tooth with his drill as he… was taking it out of my mouth. He hit it hard and I had to feel with my tongue to make sure the tooth hadn't chipped and he didn't even seem to notice. My husband got a filling there, too. A few weeks later, part of it came out. My husband also said part of the filling got on the teeth around it and it felt like sandpaper to his tongue. Ugh. This guy needs to go back to dental school. If he really thinks a shot has to hurt, he needs to talk to the dentists who give totally great, painless shots and fillings that last more than a week or two.

Dr. Bird saw both my husband and I. We had our teeth cleaned by his hygienist and she did a great job. BUT when it came to the fillings that Dr. Bird put in my mouth and my husband's mouth, it's another story. Here's what I didn't like: 1. His shot hurt not just bad, but terribly. Really. It was the worst and most painful shot I've ever had. I've been to a lot of dentists and had a lot of work done due to a car accident that broke several of my teeth. I've had a LOT of shots in my mouth and none hurt like this dentist's shot. When I told him that it hurt terribly, he and his assistant said something like: "If it's not stinky and doesn't hurt, then it's not good dentistry." (While he was giving me my shot, he said something like, "Think about dancing penguins" as if I were a child. He needs to go back to dental school to learn how to give a painless shot. I've had many painless shots through the years, so I know it doesn't have to be painful.) 2. The filling he put into my lower… tooth feels rough like sandpaper. I went back to him to smooth it out and it's still rough. And now the filling is broken and a piece of it came out. The filling he gave to my husband came out a week after it was placed. 3. The filling he put in my upper right tooth received a "sealant" to seal the filling, but the sealant got onto the tooth next to it and I couldn't floss between the two teeth. Finally, after trying for two days, I got the floss to go through. That should have been checked before I even left the chair. 4. For the filling he put into my lower tooth, on my second visit, he decided to try another composite material, different from the composite he put in originally. He said something to the fact that he was going to use me as a "Guinea Pig" to see how long that filling would last. Gee, that's not much for building patient confidence. 5. He was rough and at one point, hit my two front top teeth with his drill but never said a word like, "Sorry" or "I didn't mean to do that." He hit it hard enough for me to feel it with my fingers to make sure it didn't chip. Both my husband and I were disappointed and are now looking for another dentist. OH--and on both of us, he got his composite filling material on the surrounding teeth, so we can still feel roughness on the surrounding teeth with our tongues. I was so upset, I asked for my money back--something I've never ever done at a dentist office. Out of the approximate $150.00 I paid that wasn't covered by my insurance, he gave me back about $28.00. Very disappointed in his service. I can't figure out how he has such good ratings, but my husband and I give him an "F." Or to be nice, maybe a "D". His staff, however, I'd give them an "A" or "B". They were very friendly and nice to work with.
