Dr. Gakwaya Habiyaremye, MD

I've been seeing him for at least 2 years now. I have depression, anxiety, and adhd, and have been getting treated for that for much longer. I have my own psychiatrist and therapist so my mental health is covered. I've also been suffering a lot of physical issues for the past 2 years or so. I'm not going to go into full detail about my problems, but I will be vague about them cause this story needs to be told. At first, it was minor, I could easily ignore it, and ignore it I did. But then my parents noticed and were worried so they brought me to the doctor. Dr. Habi, as I've come to call him, first told me he didn't see any problems, then told me if there were problems it was probably because of my anxiety (which I was not diagnosed with at the time, so that's one thing he has going for him). He said I needed to talk with my Psychiatrist and I did. We tried many different types of medication, even going off medication at times, but nothing about the physical problems changed. In… fact, they seemed to be slightly worse. So I went back to Dr. Habi, and I believe this is when he told me I just needed to drink more water, exercise more, and to talk to my psychiatrist. Again, nothing was getting better, and I was doing my best to keep up with his suggestions. I'm only human after all. So I went back to Dr. Habi, he gave the same advice, and then this repeated several more times. My physical issues have gotten to the point that I can't carry on with daily activities, walking, eating, and even just holding things have become so hard to do. A few days ago, my family and I confronted Dr. Habi about this, about how he hasn't been helping and how I've been getting worse. It was this visit that really hit home to me that he just wasn't listening to me. And he still gave me the same damn advice. And my mom got so angry she went off on him. He told us that we should see a different PCP. I can't tell if the reason he wouldn't listen to me was because I was female, or because I was young. All I know is that my condition has gotten worse to the point that its debilitating and if this man had done his job and found out what was wrong with me, I wouldn't be in this position.
