Dr. Gary Duane Bergman, MD

I read all the reviews before I visited Dr Bergman and was hesitant due to the reviews the said he was unkind, rude and impersonal. I really do not know why those remarks were given as I found the doctor to be most friendly, knowledgeable, kind and very patient with his very thorough explanations. I highly recommend him and tell you to ignore the bad comments.

I saw Dr. Bergman when I broke my wrist. Dr. Bergman reset it and it is great now. The scar is so small it's almost invisible. Dr. Bergman is a very caring and skilled surgeon. I highly reccommend him.

Dr Bergman and his clinics refused to accept my retired military insurance TRICARE Prime in a very unclear expensive way. The front desk check-in staff is not allowed to tell you they donâ??t accept TRICARE Prime when you check in. They just politely check you in and let you think the insurance is accepted. Apparently this only happens to veterans using TRICARE because the front desk staff is trained (according to their website) to ask for payment up front on any other insurance that is not accepted. Their refusal to accept Primeâ??s lower reimbursement rate forces TRICARE to bill at a higher rates plus penalties. The worst part is not the cost of the initial referral visit but the cost of the actual surgery. That higher billing rate/penaltiy is unaffordable on a fixed income and seems designed to keep veterans from receiving the standard of care in their community. Lastly...Dr Bergman was professional and quickly laid out my surgery options. I wouldnâ??t hesitate to… use his services and have only heard good things about his skills. I am disappointed in his clinics front desk check-in and billing process.

I went to him after a year of physical therapy and having my MD refer me to him for a cortisone injection. He was quick to tell me I needed carpal tunnel surgery and that he would not even try the injections. When I asked about problems specific to my hands which were my main problems, his response what that he didn't know and who knows, maybe it'll get better after the surgery. He was insensitive to someone that was already feeling hopeless, even when I started to cry in his office. I left feeling utterly alone and hopeless in my condition. He was abrupt and uncaring and left as quickly as possible. The office was uncoordinated and confusing. I will say that my nurse was very kind. I would NEVER recommend this office and especially not this surgeon.

Dr. Bergman is a dangerous physician. Although he may be skilled as a surgeon. He lacks the compassion and most importantly conviction to care for his patient's individual needs. If you scan the rest of the reviews, you will see rave reviews on procedures that did not have complications. If there are any complications, he becomes defensive and dismissive to concerns given by his patients of their condition. This is a very dangerous characteristic for someone who is to provide adequate and patient minded aftercare. Do not be deceived - In my experience, if your healing is not normal, he will think you are lying!

I have had three different experiences with Dr Bergman. One for a broken wrist which needed surgery with hardware and screws implanted. I was relatively pain free after the surgery and was back to work as a medical transcriptionist 2-1/2 weeks following the accident and after hand rehab. Then I broke my shoulder four years later and he treated me and I healed uneventfully. A year ago I had bilateral knee replacements and had an uneventful recovery and was climbing stairs to my apartment after one week. He is an exceptional doctor, surgeon and person and I would recommend him to anyone.

Would never recommend him to anyone! He is the most heartless uncaring and just plain mean man. There definitely is something wrong with this doctor and it is time for him to recognize he is not a person that should be in the medical field.

I came in to see this doctor before my carpal tunnel surgery. Despite the tests ordered and confirmed by other MD's (and L and I), the doctor was positive my diagnosis was not work related despite admitting that he does not even understand what I do for work (I'm a CNA). The doctor berated me and told me everything I told him was false (again, despite the scientific evidence before him). He left me in his office crying and unfortunately only his staff offered any kindness to me. I would rather wait longer for my scheduled surgery then go back to this awful man.

I had a fifth metacarpal on my right hand... After finally getting Dr. Bergman to see me, all he did was crack a few jokes at my expense, tell me that it would heal 98% good, that surgery wouldn't be recommended and that loss of grip wouldn't occur.Well not only is my grip strength gone, but the fracture was worse than what he made it out to be and my knuckle has been greatly eroded. The malunion still hasn't healed and because Dr. Bergman advised me against surgery then, I won't be covered should I choose to get it fixed now and will likely pay thousands. No I'm not bitter, I just don't want another person to have to go through what I did.

He was a really wonderful and caring doctor during my care. Gave me time to ask questions, he told me what to expect before, during and following surgery, and his staff was very wonderful too
