Dr. Gary Richard Feldman, MD

I feel so lucky to have been referred to such warm, intelligent and caring physician.

Dr. Feldman has been my rheumatologist for almost nine years. He provides superb explanations of my ongoing condition and what I need to do -- I never walk away feeling like I do not know where I stand. He has kept my rather pronounced level of rheumatoid arthritis in check. Occasionally there may be flareups, and he or his excellent assistants call me back to help determine what plan of action I should take. His office is well-organized. Quite frankly, he does such a great job that I continue to go to his office even though I live over forty miles away -- I do not see a need to switch to a more local rheumatologist. He really cares about this patients and treats them with kindness and with interest rather than just churning from appointment to another like other doctors are known to do. Grade A++++

I saw Dr. Feldman based on a recommendation from a member of the Ankylosing Spondylitis association. The first bad sign: the building he's in is a dank, smelly, moldy building in a business park off the 405. Didn't make me feel at ease. The first 20 minutes of my appointment was spent with him reviewing some of my records, and performing some very awkward manipulations on me, to see what my mobility was. He grabbed my left leg while I was lying on the table, and pulled it sharply all the way to one side, making me feel like a wishbone. Then the same with the right leg. Then, while looking at my Xray, he suddenly jumped up from his stool, and said "I'll be right back". My partner and I thought he had seen something in the Xray that he wanted to investigate further, but then we sat in the exam room for ten minutes or so, and wondered where he had gone. My partner decided to go on a search. It was the end of the business day, so the office was very empty. After a thorough… search, my partner came back without being able to find ANYBODY. That took another 10 minutes. Okay, ready? ANOTHER 10 minutes later (total of 30 minutes), and we hear the exam room door next to ours open up. It's him. With our door open, we were able to see him saying goodbye to an attractive young woman (who was clearly not a patient). He waltzes back into the office to resume the appointment, WITHOUT SAYING A WORD. Not an "I'm sorry for the delay", or even "Let's get back to these Xrays"...NOTHING. We asked him where the heck he had been for a half hour without telling us. He had the gall to say that our appointment was taking too long, and that he had to attend to another "appointment" that he had scheduled. We told him we could not believe that he would interrupt our initial appointment like that, and that no other doctor had ever treated us in that way. He glibly stated "That's the way the world works...do you want to continue with the appointment?" He stared at us with a blank look on his face, and there was something more than odd to his demeanor. You can imagine that we told him "No", and left his office. Furthermore, "Dr." Feldman is the president of something called the California Rheumatology Alliance. This turns out to be a bully pulpit group of his that he uses to run a website for rheumatologists to talk with each other, and swap war stories. He is basically using the site to extort money from other Los Angeles-based rheumatologists, and heaven forbid you're a rheumy who doesn't pay him your lunch money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR, IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH. He's nothing but a true bully, and not in any way interested in diagnosing your medical problems. And tell your trusted doctors to not get involved with him, and to investigate what's going on with him...he's bad news.

I was referred to Dr. Feldman by my primary care MD. As a result of my experience with Dr. Feldman, my doctor's office apologized to me! Dr. Feldman was 1/2 an hour late, not too unusual for doctors. However, he left in the middle of my exam to see another patient (not an emergency) for over 20 minutes! The lights went out in my exam room, and I had to turn them back on. I found Dr. Feldman to be arrogant, dismissive and condescending in tone and manner. I'm a college educated business professional in my 40s, and he treated me like an idiot. I didn't see him for arthritis, and I sensed he didn't see the dollar signs of long term RA treatment in my future. Blood work results that were available the next day (a Friday) weren't shared with me until Monday at 5:30 pm, and only after I called four times to check on status. Even then, my call was returned by a Physician's Assistant! I would guess my Blue Shield of California PPO got billed for the MD's time, not the PA. (And… yes, I will be checking with Blue Shield to see how the insurance company was billed). Other than "everything but one thing looks okay except one thing that's a little elevated so you're good to go" from the PA, I received no thoughts from the doctor regarding the issues that brought me to his office in the first place. My ENT who insisted I see a specialist was floored! If you want someone who puts patients first, second or even third, don't go here. You could end up dead last.

Dr feldman has a comprehensive practice. He is very knowledge and explain everything to you. My quality of life has greatly improved because of dr feldman. His staff is awesome too especially arliz luna, she is excellent.

Words cannot describe how amazing Dr. Feldman is! He has helped me through the most difficult time in my life the past few years dealing with my lupus. I honestly don't know if I would be doing so well without him. He is truly concerned with my well being, and closely monitors my labs and medications to make sure everything is ok. His office staff is also great

5 doctors had told me my back was a mess and I needed to get a grip and accept my limitations. After a thorough exam, Dr. Feldman gave me my life back. I was having a hard time walking a few feet when I first saw him. I can walk, exercise, dance now. He saved me.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and have visited several rheumatologists. Recently I have switched my care to Dr. Feldman, and he is doing an excellent job controlling my arthritis condition. I would highly recommend him.
