Dr. Gary Wayne Nickel, MD

In 1993 Dr Gary Nickel completely missed my stage IV endometriosis. He did a pelvic exam and prescribed Advil for pain. After some days of taking 8 Advil a day, I called Dr Nickel's office and was told he was out of town but another doctor could see me. This doctor did an ultrasound, found large bilateral endometriomas (my ovaries were enlarged to the size of lemons) and had me in surgery the next day. Dr Gary Nickel had missed the endometriomas completely.

Love this doctor office. Dr. Nickel delivered all our children and now his son is also a doctor in his office. Now our daughter is going to their office. What a great duo

MY FIRST DOCTOR IN THIS OFFICE IS NOW DECEASED BUT PROBABLY THE FINEST DOCTOR I'VE EVER HAD. TRUSTING HIS JUDGEMENT IN THE PARTNER CHOICE I THEN WENT TO DR. NICKEL. HE NEVER RUSHES YOU, FINDS OUT REALLY HOW YOUR DOING HEALTH WISE, SITS WITH YOU ALONE FOR THE BREAST EXAM SO YOU CAN ASK THE REALLY PERSONAL QUESTIONS, IS VERY PATIENT, RELATES TO THE INDIVIDUAL, AND THERE IS NO FEELING ON BEING PART OF A HERD IN THIS PRACTICE. HE IS THERE OR YOU. I CAN'T RECOMMEND HIM HIGH ENOUGH. NOW HIS SON IS IN WITH HIM AND I HAVEN'T MEET HIM YET. I WAS INITALLY PUT OFF BY THE RELIGION OF THE LATE DR. HUISH, BUT THE MOST WONDER- FUL AND CARING MAN I'VE NEVER MET. HE BELIEVED ME WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD, WHEN I HAD A PRE-CANCEROUS CONDITION THAT NO OTHER DOC COULD CONCEIVE AND THE TERM/CONDITION ISN'T IN THE NORMAL MEDICAL BOOKS. THIS IS A SMALL, QUIET PRACTICE, WITH EXCELLENT AND CARING NURSES, THEY ALSO LISTEN AND CARE ABOUT THE PATIENT AND ARE WILLING TO HELP. YOUR NOT… SHOVED TO A MA FOR COMPLICATED ISSUES, HE ONLY HAS RN'S AND THEY HAVE 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THIS OFFICE. THIS IS THE OLD FASHION MEDICAL PRACTICE THAT WE ALL CRAVE, NOT BEING PUSHED ON SOMEONE WITH A 6 MONTH COURSE THAT FEELS SHE IS A "REAL NURSE", I KNOW A REAL NURSE, MY MOM WAS ONE. I'VE WORKED IN DOCTOR'S OFFICES AND IN HOSPITALS, THIS MAN IS WORTH HIS WEIGHT IN GOLD AS ALL HIS EMPLOYEES ARE. TO

I read the other reveiws and almost didnt give Dr Nickel a chance. I am so thankful I did. He is very competent and skilled. My primary care doctor terrified me that a solid mass on my ovary was cancer. Dr Nickel performed a laporoscopy and descovered it was endometrosis. Not fun either but not cancer. He listened to my questions, gave me options and helped me take all the factors into account with my treatment plan. I am so thankful i found him. My only advice is write you questions down because any doctor can seem intimidating when you dont feel well and if you ask him he will take the time to cover any concerns you have, he cant read minds though.

Dr. Nickel is a very competent OB/GYN. His handling of my son's birth was excellent. I was very concerned I would have to have a C-section with my second child because he was so big but Dr. Nickel told me I would be able to deliver vaginally and he was right. I was also very concerned about tearing (I did with my first child who was delivered by a nurse midwife) and I didn't tear at all with my second. Dr. Nickel was so great I've kept going to him for my regular OB appointments even though I'm done having kids.

This was the worst experience of my life with a doctor. Dr. Nickel was the on call physician at Tacoma General 3 years ago when I delivered a healthy 7.2 lb baby girl. When nurses called for him because I was ready to deliver he took so long getting to the room that a passing OB who happened to be sitting at the nurses station came in and actually delivered my daughter with no problems. Dr. Nickel came in after delivery of my baby and "took over" he decided he would handle delivery of my placenta which consisted of tearing it out piece by piece and not getting it all either since I continued to have clumps of tissue come out for the following 2 weeks. By the time Dr. Nickel was finished I was torn to shreds had tons of stitches and a hematoma. My actual OB saw me at the hospital 2 days later and wanted to keep me admitted because of the extent of damage done. This is a horrible OB stay away from him.

I was able to have a vbac with dr. Nickel. He left the decision up to me and I went into labor the day before my scheduled cesarian. He never had a lot to say at our appointments but then again it was my second pregnancy and I didn't have a lot of questions.
