Dr. Gary L Werntz, MD

I'm not a picky patient and rarely leave poor review. However I had a skin rash that was progressing rapidly and needed to have some sort of guidance ASAP because it got worse by the day. I went into Red River at 8 am for an appointment and got assigned to Werntz since my normal PCP was out. He wouldn't even look at my rash properly or give me any sort of prescription (for symptoms or the root cause) until I said "don't you at least... want to look at it?". He just told me to go to some oddly specific dermatologist (probably a friend) that wasn't available for three weeks. After pressing he gave me a prescription for very low-grade anti-fungal. The Urgent Care doctor I went to three next days later as the rash worsened looked at me and said everything this guy prescribed was wrong and much too weak to put a dent in the problem and that was clear just looking at it. After she adjusted my medication, I was fine in four days. Who knows what would've happened if I listened to this guy, and… I hope this doesn't happen to someone else. Remove the lazy attitude or if need be the practicioner, otherwise people with less cynicism will get hurt.

This man is real. He's old school. He's awesome. He listens, you tell him something and his response is very intelligent, he understands everything you say and gives you information that is current and helpful. Just the best doctor I have ever had!

He's the best listener I've ever known in a doctor. Low-key, compassionate and relates easily to patients.

The most caring and personable doctor I've had in my 60+ years. He cares, listens and is totally honest with you. He makes you feel like a friend, instead of an insurance head count. Oh yea, and he knows what he's doing too!

My husband has gone to Dr. Werntz for years and after my personal experiences with other not-so-great docs, I decided to try Dr. Werntz. He was so great--prompt, caring, addressed all my problems(and didn't even mind when I asked about something else that's been on my mind regarding my health). He spent a long time with me and is practical and thorough in his assessments.
