Dr. Geoffrey Stephen Barst, MD

The office manager is the most unprofessional person I have EVER met. She is not a people person. I’ve never been so happy to hear this doctor is retiring and that I will never have to step back into the business. Their practice was NO ONE was allowed back with patient EVEN if it was an elderly person, as in my mother WHO is legally blind and can’t hear.

Great Doctor who still takes time to talk to his patients. Very refreshing, as most places today are patient process centers.....Nothing more.

Have been going to Dr Barst for years and he is a good Dr who takes time with each person. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a general family doctor

Dr. Barst referred me to a major vision center to check for possible pre-diabetes problems.That Vision center gave me a clean bill-of-health but recommended cataract surgery.That surgery was scheduled for within a week.Dr. Barst and his staff refused to sign a "release for surgery" form and instead referred me to a cardiologist. I have zero heart problems.He and his staff let me down when I needed them with no explanation as to the reason other than the fact that He just doesn't "sign those forms" .I changed my PCP to get a form signed and have no intention of ever going back to Barst and his staff.

Dr. Barst has been my doctor for over 20 yrs. and I have never been dissatisfied with him. He has let me call him at home in the middle of the night, called in prescriptions on holidays, and always been there for me (and my family). So many other Dr.'s we know or have heard about are joining clinics to cut costs. Dr. Barst lets his family work for him so he can remain in private practice. He mentioned once that he gives one day a week at JPS. I like that he gives back to his community. He also uses student nurses to fill in his staff. Some are good, others not so good, but he gives them the opportunity for experience. I like that he has the knowledge that comes with experience to recomend other options; not just popping a pill. At the same time he keeps up to date with all new medical advances.And finally, when I need someone else he knows what specialist to send me to. If he can't fix the problem he doesn't pretend to know how.I feel Dr. Barst is a good man and an excellent Doctor.

As soon as I was layed off and my insurance was over,even thought I offered to pay cash, they told me they wouldno longer treat me. I was a patient for 15 years. They alsowould not help me when I needed my records for anotherdoctor. Worse than my problems with them, my husbandwho is still a patient under Medicare, Dr Barst does not keephis blood pressure under control. We realized this becauseof a trip to the ER. No compassion at all. Beware

Dr. Barst is simply awesome. He's very thorough, exceedingly patient, with a tremendous willingness to listen to and address all your concerns. Though he's quite personable, he's also a clear professional and inspires confidence. I particularly appreciate that he spends the time needed to ensure he's answered all of the patient's concerns. His staff is excellent as well. His wife (I don't recall if she's a nurse or physician's assistant) matches his charming personality while dealing efficiently with gathering vitals and getting initial information. The other members of the team clearly care about the patients' comfort, and seem to have learned all the best parts of Dr. Barst's approach to medicine and patient care. All around, Dr. Barst is an outstanding physician with an excellent team.

This doctor has relatives that work for him. So they are not held accountable for there unprofessional interaction with patients. The office staff wanted to over charge for office services, adding 2 week waiting periods to get these services. The office staff thought it was Ok to call the patient a name, laugh at the patient, and not allow the patient to talk to the doctor. Was told the doctor would not want to talk to the patient. Shows he cares with his patients are happy or not.

Spends a great deal of time discussing my condition every time I come in. I never feel rushed, or like he is pushing me out the door to get to the next appointment. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients!
