Dr. Geoffrey Isaac Phillips, MD

I first visited Dr. Phillips at the end of my freshman year in high school. I was referred to Phillips due to an osteochondral lesion in my ankle. I informed him of my aspirations to serve in the military, and was quickly assured that this would be a small bump, but overall not an issue. I was told the problem would not be significant and that following two weeks on crutches, and one month in a walking boot, the problem would be fixed; surgery was deemed unnecessary. Several months later, I found myself unable to walk, yet again. I returned to Dr. Phillips as a sophomore where I was informed about three different surgical options; two options being minor, and one being invasive. With direction from Phillips, my family and I decided and a less invasive option, using bio cartilage to fill the hole in my ankle. The day of the surgery, Phillips was performing the procedure and decided that INSTEAD, he would perform the other procedure we decided against, which was placing four more holes… in the ankle. None of which, gained approval from my family. Following the surgery, we were informed that everything went well and that another method was used but there was a 99% chance of success, so nobody was angry. Fast forward to being placed in a walking boot. After one month in that, I was instructed to return to light gym activity, NO RUNNING, but I could JOG. After one day, I could not walk without pain. There was major discoloration to my ankle and extreme swelling. We made an emergent appointment where new X-rays were taken, but never presented to my family and I. We were told I was completely fine, probably had a skin condition, and to see a pain specialist because this was "In my head". Following this bit of information, my family and I were fed up, and reached out to another doctor for another opinion. ONE VISIT with a new doctor and we were shown on a new X-ray that the hole was indeed STILL IN MY ANKLE and the surgery he performed was UNSUCCESSFUL. While we take into account, sometimes things happen, Phillips was dishonest and hid the X-ray from us, rather than presenting the negative results. I had to have a very invasive surgery in May 2019 with bone being taken from my knee, stem cells, and various plates and screws put in my body. At the end of the day, Phillips was dishonest, and unsuccessful, and NOT HELPFUL whatsoever. I do not recommend at all.
