Dr. George Henry Gillen, DDS

Dr. Gillen is a very good dentist, sadly he is also very nefarious and very greedy in his billing practices. I was a patient of his for like 25 years, my last visit with him was worse than a "mob hit" for getting fleeced. My reason for putting this post is because I was billed $575.00 to repair 2 simple chipped fillings that took less than 20 minutes, after paying the $575.00 in full and in cash for which I felt was grossly over-priced he had the audacity to bill my former dental insurance provider behind my back so that he can "collect" from as many sides of the table as possible. Long story short; Dr. Gillen is very much into his "greedy little sack of coins "and he will suck the blood off of every dollar you pay him in exchange for his services.

Dr.Gillen does great work; I was a patient of his services for almost 25 years. Sadly because of his nefarious pricing ways I had to discontinue his services. The last time I paid him a visit was equivalent to a"hit-job" on getting fleeced.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gillen for over four years. I was glad to find him after going to NYU Dental Clinic. At NYU I was told that every tooth in my mouth had to be pulled. I was appalled as I knew that there were many good teeth in my mouth. I thought it unhealthy to pull healthy teeth. I refused. I know that NYU is a teaching institution, but I did not want to be just a training platform for a student. I also had a shocking experience at NYU. when the the supervising dentist said to me if I saw him in private practice ai would go home with temporary teeth and if would be completed in less than two months. I wa told that it would take over a year at the clinic and and thaey did not offer tempary teeth during the proceedure. I was shocked. When I asked how much the supervising dentist said $35-40,000. I answered I told him I was in the clinic because i Had Medicaid and Medicare. I did not have that kind of disposable money to spend; I had one more problem, The student… dentist I was assigned spoke English as a second language, His English was very heavily accented. He would leave messages on my voicemail that I could not understand. I brought this to his attention. It did not improve, I finally went to NYU patient advocate and explained my situation, I answered:: We have many fine students who come to NYU Dental school to study, Their English has been graded acceptable." She also suggested<" you might consider the racial undertones to your compalint. Really@. I decided to leave. I could not understand my service providers instructions, not his voice mail messages..I did not want every tooth pulled. Finally, a friend referred me to Dr. Gillen He and his staff work within the boundaries of the rules of Medicaid and medicare. My social worker managed to get me a small grant to cover what was not covered by Medicaid and Medicare. I have been very happy with Dr. Gillen. I would recommend him to any person. In particular to seniors like myself.

EXCELLENT DENTIST WHO DOES GREAT WORK! VERY SAD THAT AFTER ALMOST 20+ YEARS OF BEING MY DENTAL PROVIDER DR. GEORGE GILLEN IS A FINANCIALLY GREEDY DENTIST WHO LOVES TO OVER CHARGE ON HIS WORK AND THEN DOUBLE DIP WITH THE INSURANCE PROVIDER SO THAT HE COULD COLLECT ON BOTH ENDS. THE BEST PART IS THAT I CAUGHT HIM WITH BOTH HIS HANDS IN THE COOKIE-JAR AND REPORTED HIM TO MY FORMER DENTAL INSURER AND TOLD HIM TOO! LONG STORY SHORT, DR. GILLEN IS SHIFTY AND DIS-HONEST IN HIS PRICING PRACTICES . SO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR'RE YOU DON'T GET RIPPED OFF IF YOU DECIDE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY. WHEN THEY SAY:"YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL THE SAME" NOW I KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS AFTER DOING BUSINESS W/ DR. GILLEN.

Dr Gillen is great. He does the cleaning and dentist care. Very kind.
