Dr. George Mingshang Huang, MD

I'm writing this review on behalf of my deceased mother; given the term, "deceased" you can probably gather his performance at the table was supremely sub-par. She was a 52 year old otherwise reasonably healthy woman with a presumed adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. Dr. Huang was to perform a pancreaticoduodenectomy (aka Whipple Procedure) a mostly palliative procedure performed on persons suffering from pancreatic cancers. It's a surgery with an approximately 4% mortality rate (when performed by an experienced surgeon) including the full spectrum of patient age and physical condition. Dr. Huang and his team made grave mistakes which led to massive blood loss, in his efforts to staunch the bleeding he ligated an artery which feeds the bowel. Clearly no effort was made to test the bowel for profusion (standard procedure) either by visual observation or UV contrast. They carted her to ICU where they jacked her up on morphine and tried to improve her vitals. The next day upon performing… their, "exploratory" they encountered her necrotic bowel, the cause of her declining vitals. It was at this time her fate was sealed and in his words, words that follow me to this day and exist in his post-op notes, "I'm not going to do anything heroic to *salvage* your mother" truly disgusting. Her fate sealed by his unskilled hands I made the difficult decision to take her off life support, from walking in under her own locomotion took less than 3 days. I was never able to speak to her again after her pre-op what for the breathing tube and all that apparatus. That said she b became extremely animated once I gave her the news, thrashing violently in her bed, crying and unable to speak to me...it was a real blast. I only wish I'd taken her to a different hospital, prior to going into surgery she told me she didn't care for Dr. Huang's bedside manner. As an aside I paid $3,000 of my own money after Kaiser refused my request for an autopsy, I'm happy to share that report with anyone who cares...he confirmed in no uncertain terms her death was a result of their handiwork, a real hack job. Her cause of death on the certificate is listed *first* as necrotic bowel...that's telling. Steer clear of this surgeon if you value your life or that of those you love.
