Dr. George B Iskander, MD

Is there a ZERO star option? I came in with extreme pain in my abdomen were I couldn’t even make it up the stairs to the office and was immediately told that it was due to my weight. He said it was nothing to worry about and to loose weight and all my pain would go away. I ended up having emergency surgery that night… this guy is a completely incompetent.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr.Iskander because I heard of his professionalism and great bedside manner from a friend, but my experience with him was far from that. He diagnosed me within 2 minutes of talking to me before running any labs and checking to see if my symptoms fit the criteria for that diagnosis. He then proceeded to tell me that my weight was a big part of my problem, given I’m only 15 pounds over the ideal weight for my height. After trying to redirect the conversation back to my symptoms, he volunteered his personal (not medical expertise/opinion) that my symptoms can eventually lead to the end of my marriage. As a medical professional myself, this was unbelievably unprofessional, unethical, and quite arrogant for him to pretend to know what my relationship with my husband is like. I left feeling so judged and not cared for. I definitely do not recommend him whatsoever.

I am 43 years old and have suffered from endometriosis since I was 20. My prior gyn tried everything short of a hysterectomy from birth control to an ablation to treat the bleeding and pain. It just kept coming back. I switched doctors and found Dr. Iskander. He was so nice, patient, great bed side manner and informative (in the way a non-medical person can understand). He put a lot of my fears to rest so we scheduled the surgery. He was going to do the robotic laparoscopic full hysterectomy trying to keep the ovaries (depending on their condition and the endo). He told me that recovery would be 3-4 days with extended time not lifting things and no sex (6 weeks). I thought he was being way optimistic but that was OK and I planned for more time (he actually was spot on). The day of surgery, my husband referred to him and the nurses as the “dream team” as they were amazing. They took me in early, Dr. Iskander was there to answer any questions and calm me down as I got last… minute jitters. They were all top notch from intake to discharge. Dr. Iskander was the last face I saw before going under and the first one I saw when I came to. I came out and had some pain immediately waking up and he was standing there to order more meds and they quickly got me comfortable. The anesthesiologist was amazing as this was the first surgery I woke up from with no nausea. I was released about and hour later. I went home pretty out of it. I took my pain pills the rest of that day and all day the next but on the third day started to wean off. I was totally off the pain pills on day four and walking around with no pain (crazy he hit that time on the nose). I have a computer job so it only entails me sitting at my desk so I was back at work in under a week. I am told that the endometriosis was very bad, my entire left side was one large mass and Dr. Iskander had to carve out all my organs to get all the endo out. Also, I had suffered from IC for two years and would have to urinate about every 2 hours. That has also went away and I can now hold my bladder for 6+ hours. My pain is finally gone. After 20 + years, I have no pain and I am so very grateful for Dr. Iskander. His follow up after the surgery just as great as all the post op work. I cannot say enough good things about him and his practice. He is top notch and a wonderful person. If you need this surgery, please at least meet with him, it was one of the best decisions I have made.

When I first met Dr. Iskander, I was so nervous because I was seeing him for an ovarian cyst that was serious and he was literally the only doctor that was available. When he walked into the room, he was so helpful, so straight forward with everything and helped me understand. I had to get a sono done and the cyst grew and he said I would need surgery. I was so scared. I was in pain the next day and he was such a great help. When he talks to you, he makes you feel better because he's so friendly and kind and funny too! Then I had to get surgery and of course I was scared, I knew him for three days and BAM surgery. But he was so great. I trusted him to take care of me and he did. Now I'm perfectly fine! I would totally recommend Dr. Iskander to anyone who is looking for a gyenocologist. You don't find many doctors that care about you so much, I'm so lucky to have found his office. The staff at all of Fairfax OBGYN Associates are super sweet. They are always so welcoming and friendly to… everyone. I love it there and looking forward to seeing Dr.Iskander and his staff when I'm ready to have kids!

Dr. Iskander talked to me like he was trying advertise all of this expensive birth control methods. I'm 24, employed as a RN, and am very aware of various bc methods and what is REASONABLE. Now I told him I'm not ready to have a baby w/my significant other, but I still want longterm bc and he tried to sell me IUD which would be 800$!! I told him that is way out of my price range, but he insisted it was the best choice and we could to payment methods...I felt like he was trying to take advantage of my youth and mistook me for being naïve.
