Dr. George Steven Leventon, MD

My daughter has worked with Dr. Leventon for over five years for ADD. I wholeheartedly recommend him. Dr. Leventon truly cares about his patients. You will not be in and out in 15 minutes with a prescription and no real counseling. Dr. Leventon will talk with you for a long, long, long time. At times, it is annoying to have such long appointments - but he really gets to know his patients, and they get to know him. (Plus, the appointments get shorter after you have been with him for a while.) Dr. Leventon goes the extra mile for his patients and does what he thinks is best for them in terms of medication and in terms of counseling. He probably doesn't mesh with all patients, but he is very helpful for those he works with.

I would pass this guy right on by. Saw him for many years (10). Initially saw him with my toxic husband. He sided with him consistently. Maybe because be paid his bill. George does not accept medical insurance. George was not interested in knowing either of us on a real personal level. He gave me a bi-polar diagnosis without any testing and medicated me which made me subdued and able to tolerate a toxic marriage just a little bit longer. I continued to see him after getting out of the marriage because he had medicated me for twice a year. George would always bring up my ex-husband in every visit. I found this very distasteful and in poor judgment on his part. Most of the expensive visit was spent on talking about George's endeavors with his train and his world. Only after you stop talking does he pull out your chart and ask you limited questions about your family tree. Took me way too long to stop seeing this guy.

George pushes pharmaceuticals and sides with the one that is paying him. He is very manipulative and a weak link to the medical and court system

Prescribes excessive dosages of medication to children much too young for those medications. Piles new medications on to treat side effects of previously prescribed medications instead of going back and choosing more appropriate drugs. Obsessed with people drinking tea. He works for the person who pays his bill, so if you are divorced he will echo the views of the parent paying his bill and misrepresent the other parent up to and including to lying to the children he is supposedly there to treat

First visit was scheduled for 2 hours for $400 for my 16-year old daughter. The appt. lasted for more than 3 hrs him talking about his travels and his education, and was drawing a very DETAILED family tree even including my husband's first wife. He only spent about 10 minutes on my daughter, but even then I would have expected some diagnostic questions rather then her childhood illnesses and interests.. At the end he diagnosed her with OCD (as he did the entire family) and told us to come back for about 2 more appointment for $200/each before he can give us a more detailed diagnosis. He was judgmental and bias against LGBTQ people and gave us unsolicited advice on unrelated issue. He seemed unhappy when we declined treatment for OCD and asked for medication against anxiety. His answer was "Is this what you came for?"

If you want a doctor who see his patiens as people and not a py check here he is. Dr. Leventon cares about his patiens and takes the time to make individualised treatment plans based on the person not only the disorder.
