Dr. George Michael Martin, MD

Doctor Martin is an amazing Doctor,I just wish the staff at the front desk was more courteous and helpful. They did not want to reschedule me for my next appointment which every 6 months. Instead they were supposed to call me back,they never did. I have been going there for 20 years and I think he is the best on the island,otherwise I would go somewhere else.

I saw some bad reviews about Dr. Martin based on how long it took to get in to see him and seeing his PA's. If a doctor takes THAT long to see, it is because everyone on island wants to see him and has nothing to do with his ability to practice medicine. As a provider, I fly from Maui to go to his conferences. He is known and respected nationally. Dr. Martin would be difficult to get into if he was practicing anywhere and is loved as a dermatologist as well as a friend to his patients. He is a farmer/surfer and genuinely good person on top of being one of the most brilliant physicians I have ever met in my 12 years of practicing.

There's no doctor more caring, competent and committed! Dr. Martin saved my life, even though I had no insurance, and continued to treat me, gratis, for three years, until I got coverage. This was after two other Maui dermatologists misdiagnosed my potentially fatal condition, btw. Highest possible recommendation!

I would never recommend Dr. Martin to anyone. I only went to him because I've heard his name a lot around the island, but little did I know that with his name comes bad experiences. There was a 6 month wait period to see him, I waited 45 minutes for my appointment, he spent only 5 minutes with me, disregarded my questions and spoke down to me. The worst doctor visit, don't waste your time!

Dr. Martin is a skilled, knowledgeable physician. However, if you set up an appointment to see Dr. Martin there's a very good chance that you'll never actually see him. Most often - unless you specify that you want him personally, there's an excellent chance that your care will be done by one of his PAs or NPer's. For most cases this is not that big a deal, but just know that you're paying for a board certified physician with over a decade of formal training but what you're getting is someone with anywhere from half of that training to less than 30% of that. I had a positive biopsy for a squamous cell lesion on my hand. I was scheduled for MOS the following Monday. I expected Dr. Martin to be at least involved with the procedure, instead his PA did the surgery and I never saw Dr. Martin. The procedure looks like Stevie Wonder was doing the cutting. I wish I could upload a picture of the result. Complete hackery. Bottom line if you line: if you schedule an appointment with Dr.… Martin make sure you see Dr. Martin and not his less than competent PA.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE. I am very sensitive about my skin problems and after weeks of working up the courage to seek out a dermatologist I started my search with Dr. Martin. After reading many reviews and looking over the website I thought this would be a good place for me. I then called the office multiple times over a course of 4 days. I was unable to get anyone to answer the phone or leave a message for them to call me back. When they finally answered the woman on the phone was extremely rude and because I was a new patient she seemed to not have any time for me. She annoyingly said they would not have availability for another 8 months. I asked if she would be able to recommend another doctor and she said "look it up in the yellow pages". I am very disappointed and hurt at the way this business responds to new patients.
