George P. Moutevelis, DMD, MAGD
Being born and raised in Ipswich, Massachusetts, by parents who were both educators, Dr. Moutevelis' thirst for knowledge and passion to help others seemed to come naturally to him. After graduating from Philips Exeter Academy at age 17, Dr. Moutevelis attended Boston University where he received his Bachelors of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, with Special Distinction in Biology. Faced with a career choice between Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Moutevelis chose the University of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine, where he earned his DMD degree and upon graduation was one of only 10% of dental school graduates to be admitted to attend a General Practice Residency Post Graduate Program. A little over one year after he completed his residency at Suburban General Hospital, Dr. Moutevelis was fortunate to purchase his current practice from Dr. George Velis, a fellow Penn Dental School alumnus. (2008 marks the 25th Anniversary of Dr. Moutevelis' practice in …Woburn.) Needless to say, Dr Moutevelis' dedication to education didn't stop there. He earned the prestigious Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1989, at the Convocation Ceremony at the AGD Annual meeting in San Francisco, Ca. This award requires at least 500 hours of Continuing Education in each of the 16 disciplines of dentistry, and then passing the comprehensive fellowship examination. In 2007, Dr. Moutevelis received the highest award bestowed by the Academy of General Dentistry, The Mastership Award, at the Convocation held on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Midway aircraft carrier during the AGD annual meeting in San Diego, CA. This award requires a minimum of 1,100 hours of approved continuing education courses, at least 400 of which must involve the actual application of a skill or technique in each of the 16 disciplines of dentistry, under the close supervision of highly qualified experts, and before a body of his peers.
In addition, Dr. Moutevelis has been awarded "America's Top Dentists" by the Consumer Research Council of America each year from 2003 to the present.
Dr. Moutevelis is married, to his wife Kristin, has four children Alexa, Peter, Olivia and Michael and resides in beautiful Ipswich, Massachusetts.
In his free time, Dr. Moutevelis enjoys watching and coaching his children in football, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and Lacrosse. He is a life long Patriots fan, a political junkie, down hill skier, boater and unabashed beach bum.
