Dr. George Knowlton Nichols, MD

Right knee replacement in Jan. 2019 has been completely successful. Very important to follow his directions prior to and after surgery. He tells you what to do to make the surgery a success. His skills are superb, but follow through by patient determines ultimate outcome. You should expect a few months of dedication and caution, along with mild to medium discomfort during therapy. It took nearly 3 months before I drove again, but final results are worth it.

Both of my shoulders have been replaced by Dr. Nichols, he is an outstanding surgeon with a great bedside manner. St my office visit I was informed about the type of replacement and what to expect. From his amazing nurse Emily to Ryan the Physical Therapist, who is always on time, I never needed to call or question anything. The entire process went smoothly from beginning to end. Dr. Nichols is kind and caring. He possesses an amazing skill and talent and is top notch Surgeon in his field of expertise. He is highly educated and knowledgeable about the procedures he performs. I tell everyone about my positive experience and recommend Dr. Nichols for anyone who has an orthopedic need.

AWFUL. Switched to Dr. Ackerman in WPB to fix Nichols' mess. Nichols is incompetent and unfeeling. She went in for a TKR on both knees. She fell on her right knee and damaged her kneecap. So, he wired it and put a cast on Mom's knee. A couple weeks into wearing the cast, she complained of pain and he sent his assistants to talk to Mom. He saw her for a minute and disregarded her. Well, the wire worked itself out of her knee and was rubbing up on the cast. It caused a serious staph infection. Oh, he was concerned then and said he would operate no charge to remove the infection. Wouldn't have happened if he listened and took an x-ray. After several months of her clearing the infection, he recommended surgery again and that's when I said NO WAY. Doing research for top osteopathic surgeons in the state lead me to Dr. Gary Ackerman. When we switched doctors, getting her records from Nichols was extremely difficult and time consuming. Once I got them, I understood why. … There were hardly any records documenting her problems or procedures. My Mom was a patient of his for two years...she kept hoping he would do the right thing by her and he never did. He even changes Mom's bandages...spends time with his patients instead of his assistants. More to the story but I hope he quits practicing. Mom was very loyal to him until his ego really affected her health. His inability to LISTEN to Mom and address her concerns was crazy...he completely disregarded any pain she was in...and instead just kept doling out the hydrocodone. I sincerely hope he just retires. We looked into a lawsuit but we aren't interested in money. An apology and a promise to quit operating on other people wouldn't be forthcoming.

Please if u are considering joint replacement of any kind stay away , My husband of nearly 30 years and father of our son died because he believed this man could fix him after a total failed joint replacement and multiple surgery’s to fix he died and is gone forever we had to watch him die on full life support in the ICU after the 3rd surgery to fix what should have been done right to begin with my husband suffered because he had a dream to walk again this Dr can never fix what he has taken from us .

Had a knee replacement....swelling would not go down after 4 months. He wanted to treat with cortisone injection, rather than find out what was wrong with the surgery. Had a bone scan elsewhere and knee hardware was not attached at either the femur or tibia. Femur component was so loose that it wore away the bone. Three corrective surgeries later, and I have gone from being an active athlete to barely walking. Dr Nichols arrogance stopped him from even considering that something had gone wrong in his surgery.

Could not ask for a better surgeon!

Dr. Nichols is an excellent hip replacement Surgeon. Scar is minimal and physical therapy was quick. I am old I recovered faster than most. Getting an appointment can be difficult and the wait times vary. Staff is always courteous. I did go in for a shoulder injury and they recorded the wrong arm in the files and that is why I gave the diagnosis a 3. Follow up visit are sometimes difficult to get timely and he doesn't spend more than 5 minutes with patient visits. He does however, explain everything really easy o the patient understand and is clear on how the surgery goes. I think as a surgeon he is great; generally expressionless when giving diagnosis though. You go to him because he is the best at what he does.

This is mu second time I needed a doctor such as Dr. Nichols. I cannot say enough about not only Dr. Nichols but the staff as well. He is a caring person as is the staff. Great doctor to spend a few minutes with to talk about your issues.

My choice of a Surgeon for Replacement Surgery.

Probably the best that this area has to offer. Excellent surgeon, but more important, he is concerned about his patients and his bedside manner can not be beat!
