Dr. George Edward Powell, MD

It's been seven months and he has yet figured out why I had a seizure. First it was a tumor (cancerous), then it was an iscemic stroke, then it was a aneurysm. And finally after the last test he said I was fine. He doesn't know what he is doing and he only guesses at the diagnosis. I wanted a referral a long time ago but refused. I just demanded another referral to go to Oahu and was finally granted that. Anger and frustration at the lack of quality care.

Went to see Dr. Powell few months ago and he told me that I had so many things wrong with me that its hard to figure out ... in other words he gave up on me and did not want to deal with me. I left a message prior at his office as I had a question and I never got a call back. I know he got my message and that he chose not to respond to it cause the question would have been referred to him to answer. ................... He was really not professional or compassionate at all. I was almost going to tell him, should I lie down and die right now? I will never see this doctor again but then Maui Medical only has him as a neurologist which is a problem.

Dr. Powell listened attentively, answered my questions effectively, and explained various treatments available. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The best neurologist ---and the best staff--on the Island!

I was nervous about the reviews by a few disgruntled patients, but discovered during my appointment that Dr. Powell is both professional and friendly; He accurately diagnosed my problem and explained all my options. The people I have talked to since my visit have also been happy with Dr. Powell, so I'm writing this review for all of us!

Dr powels office staff is awesome!! Wish i could say the same bout the dr. Seem like he was blessed with ears as decorations cause he didnt listen to a word i said. Granted my case is very complex. But i came in for suggestions. And instead i got pushed on to someone else. So im not going tonwaste my time with him again. That was strike 2 already with me.

Two of my family members and several people I know have all had the same bad experience I did with this doctor...he acted distracted the entire time, didn't answer my questions, didn't seem to have a clue who I was when I returned for my second appointment, told me I needed to go to Oahu for several very expensive tests (that my second opinion neurologist said I absolutely did NOT need any of!), was very dismissive and made me (and I got the same feedback from others) feel like I was annoying him to even BE there! I got no diagnosis and no help whatsoever and didn't feel like he even knew what he was talking about. I have zero confidence in this doctor and would never see him again. My experience with him was the worst I've ever had with a doctor.

This doctor has no manners treating his patients;turns his back when patients want to address more concerns; very unapproachable; very limited discussion with patients
