Dr. George Michael Tosky, MD

I had Dr. Tosky for my first delivery and he was so patient and compassionate, I really enjoyed the whole experience. I wanted him for my second as well but we had to move to Boston unfortunately. I thought Boston has good Doctors but I was so wrong. The Doctor I ended up with was the exact opposite of Dr. Tosky and I had to get an emergency C-section because she hurried the process so she could go home early! I am yet to find a competent Ob-Gyn in this area after 10 years. Dr. Tosky is terrific and I wish I could find another Doctor like him.

I came in with the expectations of seeing my normal doctor (who had an emergency she had to see about) so I was given Dr. Tosky. I had been sick off and on for 2 days and with my first pregnancy, some of the other symptoms I was having were concerning. After asking me a couple of questions about some medication I am on for depression/axiety, he says "I think you are just having a bad day". The medication I am on had nothing to do with the symptoms I was having and it made me feel like the doctor was thinking just because I was on that medication, I must just be a woman having a bad day. He did not listen to me when I tried to explain how I was feeling, and just stood there and looked at me. This doctor has a terrible bedside manner! I will be switching OBGYN practices because of this experience. I certainly don't want this man to be the person who delivers my daughter.

I had moved to Raleigh when I became pregnant with my 2nd child. Dr. Tosky was the best in this practice at listening to my concerns, and was genuinely sympathetic to my aches and pains. When I had nursing issues the week after my son was born, he took me in immediately and was so kind and helpful in getting the problem fixed. I only wish he would have been the one on call to deliver me!

I have found Dr Tosky to be a ready listener, up-to-date on best medical practices, and willing to adjust recommendations according to the patient's input and choices. An example: Several years ago in menopause, I reviewed with him the options, not being very much in favor of hormone replacement, but wanting to seek other solutions to hot flashes, etc. I proposed using a topical cream which had herbal ingredients long known for their usefulness in treating menopausal symptoms. He agreed, it was a most satisfactory solution for me, and it gave an alternative to the treatment most doctors were using. Later I was especially glad, and he, too, when it was shown that hormone treatments had some negative side-effects in many women. He does NOT have a "one-size-fits-all" attitude or approach.
