Dr. Gerald Paul Heisler, MD

Hello, My name is Brock Evans. I first saw Dr Heisler on May 5th for a yearly physical. I explained to the dr at that point that I used to go to Austin regional clinic until my insurance changed at the beginning of the year and I showed him medications I’m currently on. They are citolaphram and lorezaphram. He quickly stated that he can continue the citolaphram but I needed to see the behavioral health specialist to refill the lorezaphram. I thought, that’s odd, I’m here with the medicans in my name but he wont refill one, but that’s ok I can just see the other doctor (behavior specialist ) when I need the lorezapham. Maybe that’s just how communicare works. He quickly ran through physical checks on me and then had nurses do everything else. He was not very responsive to why I was there, but I didn’t mind to much because its just a physical. On Monday the 2nd, I went online and scheduled to meet with the behavioral specialist and got an email that my appointment was… Friday the 6th, today. I check in at communicare and after the nurse takes me back and I explain that I have developed flu like symtoms and could I speak to the doctor about that as well as my medications. She was polite and said yes. After about 20 minutes Dr Heisler walks in, in my head I’m kind of laughing thinking he is also the behavior health specialist. He starts by introduction himself and stating that Im here about flu symptoms. I stop him and explain why I originally booked the appointment, for the medican and I just developed the flu symptoms. Half way through me talking he is shaking his head and says who prescribed them? I explain that it was my previous doctor with ARC and that I saw him in May and he said he could keep the citolaphram going but…, again he is shaking his head and tells me he never prescribed anything to me. I finish the story on how he told me to see the behavior health about the lorazapharm. He then walks out and comes back in and says “ you have ambetter insurance, they don’t cover behavior health and you have to fillout a bunch of paperwork to see the behavior health doctor. He says my citolaphram prescription is perfect. Never asks me how Im doing on it or anything. I explain again, that something is screwed up because thats why I booked the appointment, again he shakes his head and says I opted to see him about the flu. I said no, I just told the nurse about it, I booked this for mental health. Im very agngry at this point, but not yelling, I just don’t understand. He leaves and the nurse comes in and does the flu swab. Then another nurse with behavior health comes in and says he directed her talk to me about seeing a phyciatrist. I give her my income and explains that I wont qualify for a discount to see the behavior health and that it will be 150.00. She was nice though. I showed her the medicans I have and she says “ some doctors just don’t feel comfortable prescribing this unless you see a pycyratrist first” so its just the doctor not wanting to refill it for me? I tell her he is an terrible doctor. Then another 15 minuse and dr heisle comes in and says I just have a cold and explains what a cold is. Dr Heisler may be fine with normal sickness, colds, flus, but obviously does not want to get to know his patience or truly help them when iut comes to mental health. Its is very hard for me to come in with these issues and to be ushed around like Im a problem is not the way to handle it. I like communicare as a whole as my wife uses it and my children have gone. My wife did get mental treatment from a Doctor which is great but Dr Heisler just seems to be to Old and stuck in his ways to be a good doctor.

Dr. Heisler is ill mannered AKA terrible bedside manner, he didn't listen to a word I said during my appt but instead talked over me. He also was neglect in obtaining my EEG results from the hospital. Inexcusable behavior & and terrible work ethic.
