Dr. Gerald Marshall Isbell, MD

I rarely write reviews, but I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Isbell and his office staff. I can always count on him to take his time and listen to my concerns and provide a thorough assessment. Office staff very friendly and organized. Krista Denton

Have had 2 colonoscopy with Dr. In addition have seen him a few times in between those years. Both times no discomfort and back to the grind the evening after. Minimal downtime. Always top notch information and explanations. Staff is always informative and helpful. I would trust this practice for anything having to do with the gastro area.

Basically he saved my life. He diagnosed what no one else could. He heard my concerns. He is a great doctor and I completely trust him. I highly recommend that you just go straight to the best.

I am being honest in my review of Dr. Isbell, and I am not exaggerating. When I first met Isbell, he came off as a little cold, and rather impatient with me. I asked him questions about what was going on and our plan for treatment and he just glanced at the chart, and gave a curt answer. Walking away from the appointment, I felt as though I had annoyed him by having my condition. But I was stuck with him because I had to get my infusion done, and he was the only doctor I could get in to see after having just moved to the area. One night though, before my infusion, my condition worsened. It was not a life-threatening problem though, but called his office after hours to check with the doctor on call to see if this was something worth going to the ER about. I get patched through to him, and he then reprimands me over the phone for calling him at 10pm. His office puts me through to him because they said he was the doc on call, and I am the one who gets yelled at. He then hangs up on me… without giving me any sort of advice as what to do. I ended up going to the ER and getting admitted to the hospital for about a week. While I am recouping at home after the stint at the hospital, I have a knock at the door and lo-and-behold the mailman is there with a letter I need to sign for which is from Isbell's office. It informs me that I have been banned from not only Dr. Isbell's office, but from his entire doctor's group (which covers a lot of the GIs in DFW). When I called to inquire as to why he has banned me and is treating me like this, his nurse informs me that I am not allowed to speak to Dr. Isbell, and that they are not allowed to inform me as to why I have been banned. She then hung up the phone. TL;DR -- Dr. Isbell was cold when I was in the office, he then yelled at me because he was the doctor on call after-hours, and then he banned me from not only his office, but his entire doctor group for reasons they will not disclose to me.

This doctor becomes visibly unhappy if your GI situation gets complicated or requires some further attention. He will make you feel bad with aloof insults if his quick fixes don't work. If you don't get better, he takes it personally and throws a little fit. My general practitioner even offered referrals to another doctor - without me even asking for it! When I asked him why, he explained that Isbell is just difficult to work with and not willing to look deeply into my problem. Enough said!Stay away!! Find a different doctor. Trust me, you will save yourself so much pain and regret.

Dr. Isbell is a competent doctor but is very slow to get back with you about what results he found. It is very frustrating.

Very caring knowledgeable doctor with great bedside manner. Takes his time and really goes over everything. Amazing staff too. Dr. Isbell truly stands deserves 5 stars in each category.

Exceptional and diagnosed me right carefully and cares. I highly recommend this doctor to you. He is gifted and I am so thankful that I found him. He truly is so wise, update to date and professional. His staff is very nice as well.
