agoNEW I was refereed to the ER by an Optometrist due to blurred/distorted vision. He observed an optic nerve palsy and said I needed an MRI to figure out what was going on behind my eye. I had also been recently diagnosed with a possible sinus infection at urgent care. Dr. Willwerth was assigned to me and became annoyed at the mention of these previous diagnosis and said adamantly he didn’t agree. After two really scary days in the hospital and being checked for stroke, aneurysms, cancer, and MS, my diagnosis was a nerve palsy in my eye due to sinus disease that could be observed via MRI. He was an arrogant jerk who spoke condescending at times and didn’t like the answers I was giving him about what my symptoms were. I felt like he thought I was lying. This was the worst ER experience I have had in 43 years as a patient or as the mom of a patient.

He was compassionate and knowledgeable, made a swift assessment and very practical in the application of standards of diagnostic testing and care. In addition, he was approachable and kind as well as patient in his explanations, and even proactive in his suggestions for post discharge care.
