Dr. Gerry Nieman Smith, MD

Hi all I don’t do reviews much but I would like to in this case. I’ve been seeing Dr Smith for awhile now and the Doctor and his staff have been very supportive. I think it’s important to note that the job of pain management is not easy. It takes time to work out a plan and he’s doing a good job with me. I don’t get though every time I call the office but they always help me out with problems. Office staff are great, Thanks ??

I have not received treatment from this Dr., I was with my daughter in the exam room on her visit. The Dr. Did not introduce himself to me. He ignored a comment my daughter made when he walked into the room. After the visit in his office while we were at the check out desk and my daughter was making another appointment, the Dr. Came out in the waiting room and in front of me, the office worker and other patients in the waiting room he proceeded to tell my daughter the result of her urine test! ?? He violated her right to privacy! Why are there NO up to date reviews!

I have seen Dr. Smith off and on while at the Center for Pain Management. He has always been kind and helpful. Always explains things.

I lost my prescription never found it and they let me go!!!

Dr. Smith is by far the worst provider that I have seen. Please be aware of his manners,very rude and arrogant. Lack of empathy for patient.

dr smith is sarcastic and only seems to worry about your urine screen , so many patient he can`t remember what your mri said . very disappointing since im looking for help not to be heard in like cattle to meet a quota

Biggest Asswhole dr. That I have ever seen in my life. So the 4 letter words that come to my mind after seeing this dr., Wow! He has No Compassion, No bedside manners, No sense of humor. This guy should not even have his license, he does not deserve to even be called a Dr. I will make sure that he will not be practicing much longer.

This Doctor is the rudest person I have ever met. First, accused me of doing drugs 4 weeks ago, when he had no proof. Actually questioned whether my daughter was my biological daughter or not. To top it off he then called me a liar, yelled at me (like yelled, yelled) and told me that it's just life. I'm in there because of long term pain I've had in my back and knees. He's a piece of crap who should really just find another job because he is obviously not out to help people.

This man has absolutely NO compassion...and to be a doctor. He dismissed everything I was saying to him, he doesn't listen. He stated there was no evidence for my pain, and refused to refill pain medication I had been on for years that was working for me. Not only will he not refill that medication but he refused to give me ANYTHING to alleviate the pain. He ran tests and gathered evidence. Even when presented with proof positive evidence that he, himself had ordered HE STILL REFUSED to give me ANYTHING for pain. I was in tears with pain. I had been in withdrawals all month long while I waited for him to gather this "evidence." HE DID NOT CARE! It's as though he had made up his mind not to believe me and like a stubborn child, even confronted with evidence, wanted to continue to see me suffer. He actually told me that withdrawals only last a couple of days for someone who has been taking pain medication for years! This man is ignorant, condescending and downright evil. I… don't know how he sleeps at night. Withdrawals are not just physical in fact, the mental effects are much worse. I have lost 10 lbs in one month, I can't work, I can't focus, I can't eat. I am extremely depressed and having anxiety attacks. All of which I explained to him (what he would listen to) but HE DOES NOT CARE! I think he's especially disrespectful to women and to anyone he even suspects may be drug seeking. and with him, you are guilty and even when you prove yourself innocent, it's not good enough. A pain management doctor should manage pain. He has been determined in my case that is the last thing he's going to do. And what I don't understand is why? Why would a doctor want to see you hurt and suffer and in pain? This doctor needs to consider the fact that these people he is treating so callously and uncaring could be his wife, daughters, sisters,.....members of his family. People he loves, if he's capable of loving anybody. How would he feel if a doctor treated them the way he has treated me?

I was seeing Dr. Smith for a condition I had suffered years before. By the time I got to him about all he could do for me was manage my pain , suggest and prescribe PT & OT, and assist with accommodations at work by writing me a professional letter. Beneficial treatment (that would show reals signs of improvement and continued recovery) for my condition was well beyond it's time frame at this point. Dr. Smith was upfront and real with me about where I stood as far as my recovery and what he could do for me. With that in mind he did exactly what he could do and what he told me he would do. He was always straightforward with me. I hate doctors that beat around the bush about things. He was always courteous, gave me the time I needed to ask questions and discuss things, and was there for whatever I needed. Overall I found him to be one of the best doctors I have had and believe me, with my conditions I have had a LOT!
