Dr. Ghassan K. Abou-Alfa, MD

After my first visit I would have rated him a 5 star. He seemed perfect. Follow up visits were his true nature. He cared more about his own research than what was happening to my body. Office communication was poor. After 3 months I went to a different hospital. I now no longer feel sick from treatments. Quality of life is much better. Doubt if I would still be alive 5 months later if I stayed with Albu-Alfa.

I recently puched the eject button and moved to a doctor who was patient oriented, who took more than five minutes to discuss my cancer with me, and, most importantly whom I could trust. Beware !

The worst doctor EVER. Totally in the pharmaceutical companies pocket. Patients are collateral damage. Takes hours usually 4+ to get into an exam. If you’re lucky you’ll get 3 minutes of time with this quack. Does not like being asked nor answering questions. Takes hours to out in chemo orders. Not forthcoming with any information. Lies about your condition to keep you at Sloan. Sloan is general is a cancer concentration camp. Much better places to go to

This is a rushed overextended disengaged doctor. Barely spends time with you. Not very forthcoming with information and is a BIG liar. Told us he could treat my husbands extremely rare cancer as a chronic disease. He had tons of treatment ideas. None of his treatments worked and by the time he figured that out my husband was way to sick for his grandiose plans and was gone he n 6 months. Appointment times NEVER honored. Up to 3 and 1/2 hour waits. Took hours to put in chemo orders after his 4 minute exams. Sloan Kettering is an absolute disgrace

Knowledgeable, yes! Bedside manner and care - poor. I don't mind the wait times, I understand this but I travel a long ways for the appointments and he neglects important information, always in a rush and doesn't Red chart before meeting.

Took too long to get an appointment, wasted several weeks pushing clinical trials which my father did not qualify for in the end. Did not take care of my father's symptoms of the cancer. Was only interested in trying to get him in a clinical trial which delayed his treatment.

I took my sister to Dr. Alfa and our first visit he was AMAZING. Then as we returned for follow up visits we felt completely rushed. We travel very far to see him and expect more than 5 minutes. We have walked away the past few visits with unanswered questions. Its hard to put your faith in a Dr. who simply can't be bothered to give you the tine of day. Yes he is nice and funny that and a dollar gets you a cup of coffee. Our questions should be answered and we should be given the respect and time we deserve.

Very compassionate. He's spent an incredible amount of time with me and my family on my puzzling case. He is a cheerleader and is honest but always gives a measure of hope. I travel a long way and will continue to because of this doctor.

Being from NY there was no question in my family's mind that MSK was the place to bring my parent. After much research we hoped to have Dr. O'Rielly, Abou-Alfa's wife as our doctor, yet we could only get an appointment with Dr. Abou Alfa. My mother needed someone who would be sensitive and patient with her. Someone who would answer her questions in a clear manner (in layman's terms). We took a risk going to MSK, notorious for being a cancer factory. You are definitely just a number there and Alfa's beside manner left a lot to be desired. We've found better, more progressive treatment outside of NY where egos haven't gotten in the way.

I think he's great. He's very nice, very smart and super compassionate. Not sure why the negative review, he was great with us. Funny and sweet.
