Dr. Gily Savitch Chechel, MD

Working with Dr. Chechel has changed my life. I'm incredibly grateful for her help and guidance in confronting problems that I've struggled with for over 20 years.

I appreciate everyone’s comments shedding light on the truth about this “doctor.” Gily does not care about her patients, she is there for the duration of the session to constantly remind you how much time you have left, and to make sure above all else, that she gets paid. She completely lacks compassion and doesn’t seem to understand the strength it takes for a mentally ill person to leave their house and attend an appointment in order to try and get better. Once, she entirely forgot that we had an appointment scheduled. I came all the way to her office one morning to be greeted by her saying “what are you doing here? We don’t have an appointment today.” I assured her we did and I was correct, but she admitted she forgot and I guess she had another patient, so I left. I believe everyone deserves a second chance. So upon returning, she gave me an almost laughable apology saying “I apologize for our last session and then it seems you got too busy to follow up.” As our session proceeded,… I told her the things I’m struggling with. Instead of listening to how I FEEL, she was only trying to tell me how I FEEL. She wasn’t taking in anything I had to say, before she condescendingly interrupted me to tell me that everything I’m saying is unproductive, and to “remind” me that our session is only 30 minutes long and we were running out of time. I said, “remind” me? You never even told me our session was 30 minutes long, I was obviously under the impression that it’s an hour long. I was also answering questions that she had asked me in our previous sessions that she was supposed to already know the answers to but didn’t remember. ALSO, upon looking at our notes from prior sessions, all the information was INCORRECT and WRONG. Upon visiting a new psychiatrist, turns out she misdiagnosed me and told me completely untrue things about myself and my mental illness and how to treat it. If you are reading this review because you are looking for an psychiatrist that is going to support you in making strides in finding strength to overcome depression and anxiety, this is NOT your doctor. Move along, find someone else. I respect and support you for looking for the help that you need - unlike Dr. Chechel

It is too bad that hack doctors like this exist. Just because she passed the necessary tests to get the qualification does not mean she is caring or qualified to give therapeutic treatment to people struggling with real issues. Beware

Dr. Chechel lacks empathy entirely and appears to present with features of Narcissisitic Personality Disorder (with psychopathic tendencies) herself. She is a know-it-all who appears to have no connection to actual evidence-based medicine. She flipped like a switch on me, called me a liar when I was absolutely truthful about an assault, after prescribing me medications for months that she claimed were working, until she claimed the exact opposite, and then blamed me. She is an unethical doctor who is probably worthy of having a formal complaint filed against her. Seek out someone more empathetic and knowledgeable if you want to ethical, informed treatment that will not cause you further trauma.

I was treated by Dr. Chechel for 3 years. On the surface, she really appears to be a kind woman who wants to help her patients. After she falsely accused me of coming to session "intoxicated" twice in a row (mind you, I am a highly accomplished and respected professional who would never walk around intoxicated at noon on a week day, I was just in the throes of overwhelming despair after losing almost everything in my life), I decided to switch providers and obtain my medical file. That's when I realized she was callousness personified. Her session notes clearly indicate that she has absolutely zero empathy for her patients, or their lifetime of abuse, loss, and trauma. Why go into psychiatry if you are that insensitive to other people's suffering? Maybe her board scores were too low for dermatology? In any case, please save your time and money, and find yourself a psychiatrist who is able to feel and show an inkling of compassion - it is a prerequisite for the will to help others.

Dr. Chechel, is amazing! I've been seeing her for about 3 years, now. I must say, I like her better than anyone-I've seen in the past and I've seen my fair share of shrinks. (meaning, 13 different doctors, in 15 years) all in the Bev. Hills area.) I realize everyone has different needs in a therapist, but do yourself a favor and give her a try. Dr. Chechel is more than just a kind and warm woman, she actually listens to what's going on in your life, then she offers up several suggestions that may help change or redirect the outcome of ones current path. I hope this helps someone.
