Dr. Gina Marie Massoglia, MD

Extremely rude and dismissive. Refused to address a medical condition that she diagnosed.

Dr. Gina Massoglia did laparoscopic surgery to repair my inguinal hernia in January 2023. I recommend her without reservation. When she confirmed the diagnosis and described her plan for the repair she was direct and clear. She listened and responded to my questions and concerns. During surgical prep in the hospital, she was equally clear and equally open to my questions. The incisions she made were small and even one day after surgery they gave me no pain and only slight discomfort. Dr. Massoglia was recommended to me as an expert is this surgical procedure and my experience with her certainly confirmed that. An added bonus was the cheerful competence of the staff at her practice, Chesapeake Surgical Associates. They were very easy to work with and readily answered my questions about insurance and scheduling.

I am disappointed with my experience with Dr. Massoglia. I was not well informed of what to expect after having surgery and that the pain would last for weeks. I went for a follow up, which Dr. Massoglia was kind enough to squeeze me in between appts, which was to get the incision area drained. Knowing how painful the area already was she squeezed and pushed very hard bringing me to tears and it was all for nothing because it was a blood clot that had not yet liquified according to her. I had no idea I would be left with a sharp pain for days where she inserted the needle and now there’s an indent where the needle was put in. If I had to do it all over I wouldn’t. To make matters worst, her office sent a surprise bill that was not what we agreed to for a self pay.

I was referred to Dr. Massoglia by the AAMC emergency department after a visit there. I met with Dr. Massoglia for an evaluation and then scheduled an outpatient surgical procedure @ the Riva Surgical Center. From the minute I walked into the surgical center to when I was discharged was a very positive experience. The front desk staff, the RN’s, the anesthiologist, and Dr. Massoglia - the utmost care and concern was shown to me. I really appreciate the absolute professionalism and the absolute best care they gave me. I can’t say enough. Thank you all at the Riva Surgical Center!

Please do your research on Dr Massoglia. Her reputation is not good and when asked local doctors and staff will openly say so. Her skills are below average, no bed side manner, and aftercare is nonexistent. She performed surgery on my son and it has been a nightmare since. We are now with another doctor for wound care after an infection and poor aftercare by Dr Massoglia. She was hostile and offensive after surgery. I beg you to do research before you subject yourself or a loved one to this doctor.

She is one of the best Doctor's you can be lucky enough to have.

I for the life of me do not understand the 1 star ratings that this doctor has received. I couldn't have asked for a more caring or knowledgeable surgeon. As far as I am concerned I picked the best possible doctor I could have. She took the time to thoroughly explain to me what was going on with my body and listened completely to my concerns. I would most definitely recommend her to not only to a stranger but to my closest family members. Her beside manner was excellent! She seemed generally excited to see that I was doing so well the day after having my thyroid removed. She provide me with excellent after care info and sure that I was going to be properly cared for at home. She is most definitely a great asset to Annapolis and whoever is lucky enough to have her as their surgeon. Thank you Dr. Massoglia for the wonderful and delicate surgery that you performed on me. I am forever grateful!

Dr. Gina is a fantastic surgeon. She is busy and it may take a little time to get to see her because she is so good. She is confident and kind. She has operated on my father a few times, my stepbrother and me. Annapolis is lucky to have her in the community. Her office staff is wonderful and reassuring. I can only be 100% positive about her. She has a busy day but gives you as much time as she can. She knows her stuff so just be glad. She is busy because she is so good. She is honest and doesn't beat around the bush.

Excellent experience - surgery, explainations, and follow-up all very good
