Where to even begin... As a disclaimer, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with UCLA Health until this one. I saw Dr. Ng in the Santa Clarita office. I arrived 30 minutes early as requested and ended up sitting in the waiting room for almost 1.5 hours. I understand this is part of the process of seeing a doctor, but it felt excessive. Finally I got called into a room and waited another 15 or 20 minutes before the doctor came in. I had been experiencing UTI symptoms but they weren’t showing up on the dipstick exam due to them not being too accurate. Within 2 minutes the doctor starts telling me that the issue may be chronic and that I’ll likely need to manage the symptoms for the rest of my life. Demanded I quit the diet that helped me lose 60 pounds and saved my life. I think part of a doctor’s job is to have good beside manner and make their patients feel at ease. As a young man, being told that I might have a permanent issue down there immediately made me extremely… stressed. The doctor didn’t take time to answer my questions and had 1 foot out the door the whole time. I felt extremely rushed, and my mind was racing after being told that my issue was likely chronic. Before I could get a couple sentences out she was out the door. She suggested a follow up in 4-6 weeks. I spoke to the receptionist about scheduling the next visit and she kept talking about how lucky I am to see this doctor, how there are rarely appointments for her just 4 weeks out, how she’s immensely popular and that I should be grateful, and that her popularity is the reason I waited for 90 minutes in a room with a bunch of elderly people that took off their mask to cough. It felt like I was being gaslighted by her staff. Here I am leaving what was likely the worst medical appointment of my life and you are telling me to be grateful? It gets worse. The doctor reluctantly prescribed me an antibiotic for STDs even though I’m in a monogamous relationship and we’ve both tested negative several times. She knew I was on 2 other antibiotics at the time. Before I took the one she prescribed, I looked online to make sure it was safe and saw that it had an unsafe interaction with an antibiotic I had already been taking. The potential side effect was in irregular heartbeat and it is considered quite dangerous. I messaged the doctor on the MyChart app to make sure it was safe and she never got back to me. I messaged my primary care doctor the same question and within 1 day he said, in all caps, DO NOT TAKE THE MEDICATION. So on top of everything , she prescribed me something that could land me in the ER. Overall, between the excessive wait times, poor bedside manner, feeling rushed, incorrect diagnosis, rude staff, and dangerous/careless prescription, this was the worst medical experience of my life. A week later I saw a different urologist (not with UCLA), got the right antibiotics prescribed, and my UTI cleared up. I’m back to feeling normal now, and need to write this review so that other patients know to avoid this doctor. UCLA Health, you can do better.

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. She sent me to providence hospital to do the surgery.

Although my presenting issue was not life-threatening, Dr. Ng was attentive to my concerns and thorough in her treatment. She is very professional and approachable. Her office staff was welcoming and efficient. Very good first appointment!
