He is an expert cosmetic dentist in "Jersey" with extensive training in complete smile restoration, using the latest technology and restorative materials dentistry has to offer. Considered a true dental artist, he attends advanced dental courses and major dental conferences annually and has completed more than 3000 hours of continuing education studies. Raised in Belleville, New Jersey, Dr. MacFarlane attended Seton Hall Prep in South Orange, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, and earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Medicine …and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, graduating in 1985. Right out of dental school, Dr. MacFarlane joined 3 prestigous organizations, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and since has maintained memberships in several others. In 1992, he was co-founder of the New Jersey Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and served as it's President from 1996-1998. He presents lectures internationally on practice management, cosmetic dentistry and dental lasers, and has received numerous awards and citations for his dedicated service to the profession, his community and the underprivileged. Dr. MacFarlane graduated with an Advanced Aesthetics Certification and Advanced Full Mouth Restoration Certification from the prestigious Rosenthal Institute at New York University. He is the Official Cosmetic Dentist to the Miss New Jersey and Mrs. New Jersey America pageants and has dazzled the smiles of several other states winners. Doc Smile, as he is most referred, is proud to say that everyday working class people make up the majority of his clients. When not working in the office, Dr. MacFarlane is involved in product research and development, including lecturing, training and consulting, with several dental companies. Dr. MacFarlane has authored smile enhancement articles in many state and national dental and liesure publications. His technique articles have appeared in DentalTown, Dental Products Report and Dental Economics. He has also been featured in New Jersey Monthly, New Jersey Life, Wedding Bells and New Jersey Bride magazines, as well as, several state and local newspapers. He has appeared on News 12 NJ and Comcast Newsmakers and hosted his own radio program "Todays Smile" discussing new dental trends.
